Chapter 75 - "Bad Start..."

Clara's PoV

'You have got to be kidding me?' I growled as we stood at the check in at Heathrow airport on December 23rd. 'Why the hell does he have it?' I snapped so very close to slapping John around the face for being such a Fucking idiot.

'Shit. I forgot okay?' He defended.

'We checked everyone's stuff last night. You promised you would go and get it' I complained not sure what the hell happened now.

'I'll have to go and get it. It'll be fine. We'll make it' John said already sifting through the documents.

I couldn't believe he had done this. I didn't even know Richard had Evie's passport. God I was fuming.

'Your a Fucking idiot' I said actually punching him in the chest now. 'If you don't make this flight you and me are so getting another divorce' I threatened, as he grabbed his hand luggage, Evie's hand luggage and her hand then stormed out of the airport.

'Where's Daddy gone?' Avia asked as she was taking her shoes off for security.

'Your idiot father gave Evie's passport to Richard and now we don't have it. He and Evie have had to go and get it' I gritted.

I knew he wanted to do it. We'd seen it. Evie's adoption had processed for 5 years which meant we were allowed to change her passport. Richard is also half American so he had applied for Evie's passport to be an American one and English one too.

Turns out as had I sent it to Richards address and have all participating parties to sign off on it. Either way it was left at Richards when we made a trip the other night to go and get it.

'Henry take your shoes off buddy' I instructed as he started stripping off his polo top and jeans. 'No. Don't even think about it' I hummed crouching down to pull them back up around his lanky hips.

He was such a lanky little thing.

I pushed him through the security detector, and Avia went the just after him so she could help with his shoes and bag, then Poppy went through which was traumatic for a 4 year old when they set the alarm off.

I already knew she would. She's got too many needles and wires in her.

We had to remove the iV from her hand but they couldn't get the Cannula out of her arm. And I didn't want them too because it takes too long to get back in.

So that's when I ended up in an argument with the security man at the gate and had to pull out all the documents that allowed her to travel.

What didn't help was when they started questioning all the drugs in my rucksack.

I could hear the tuts of all the people behind me and I just growled at them for being so rude.

I was on my own here with these kids, so we were instructed to follow towards a security room out of the way.

- - -

'She has leukaemia. She's in the process of treatment. The iV has been removed but they couldn't remove the cannula. The medication is to get her through a 10 hour flight'

'It says here there is 6 of you travelling together?'

'There is. My husband stupidly forgot my daughters passport. He's had to go and get it' I mumbled feeling like a school kid that had been naughty and was in the headmasters office or something.

'Hmm' she said unconvinced.

- - -

After an assessment from the on site doctor we we're finally given clearance to pass through security which had now given me a grouchy three year old and was even starting to give me a grouchy 11 year old.

'Can we please get food now?' Avia whined.

I think we would just about have time before we had to get to the gate. 'Yeah. Go and get a couple of sandwiches' I instructed pointing at the coffee place and handed her a 20 pound note. 'Take Poppy with you, and get something for Evie' I said setting up camp at the table in the coffee shop.

'Clara' Lilly said with a little wince obviously bracing for impact.

'Tell me god they got the passport?'

'Yeah. That left about 15 minutes ago' she said.

'They're never going to make it. The flight departs in 90 minutes' I scoffed. 'The gate opens for world travellers in 60 minutes' I cried.

'They'll make it. I'm sure of it. All they have to do is check themselves in because all the luggage is checked in isn't it?' Lilly asked.

'Yeah. That's true. So help me they had better make it otherwise I will definitely be considering filing for a divorce' I growled.

It was the first trip away we were taking without Richard and Lilly.

They usually come on trips with us but they wanted to have a small family Christmas at home with each other and all their relatives.

Even John was worried about there only being two adults and 4 kids. We were outnumbered by almost half.

- - -

'Mummy. Daddy and Evie aren't here' Avia said as I sat her down in the four in the middle and plopped Henry next to her. We had a two and a four because that was just enough space for everyone.

The two was for me and Poppy - or John and Poppy depending on who she wanted to sit next too because she needs space or in case we need to make a quick break for the toilet. We were just being prepared.

'I really don't know' I mumbled.

I was getting very worried at this point because I can't get to the hotel the other end without John. I have all the documents but we haven't put my name down for driving the hire car.

I suppose of the worst came then David could come and get us.

'Where the hell are you?' I growled.

'I'm just coming. I promise. We're coming up to the gate now' he panted dramatically.

'Hurry up' I growled.
