Chapter 122 - "Annoyed...?"

Clara's PoV

So things were still frosty the next morning between Avia and I.

Turns out she was not wanting to talk to me.

Most mornings she would come and sit at my table with me and have breakfast with a few of her friends because some of them found it cool that I was the teacher but was also Avia's Mum.

It was like it was crazy that teachers have lives as well.

Either way I was on my own for the porridge this morning, so sprinkled a light dusting of sugar on it and ate it by myself as everyone else went to pack up their rooms.

We had to be back on the ferry at half past 12 so it was all hands on deck to be out of here by half past 10 - that way we would beat the traffic but have extra time in case there was any more.

'You alright Clara? Your watching Avia like a hawk this morning' Adrien said as I hummed.

'I'm fine really. I need to go and charge my phone' I hummed heading to my room and started packing my things up.

Things were just as bad on the ferry as she practically continued ignoring my existence and when I was sat in front of her on the coach she moved towards the back some more so that she didn't have to be seen with me.

I could understand. If my Mum had meddled in my life I suppose I would be annoyed too.

'Hey it's been snowing real badly here over the last few days' Adrien informed me.

'Yeah John said. The school closed for two days because of the snow. He's been stuck with all three kids for 4 days' I smirked feeling pretty sorry for him.

'Hey Miss. How long until we get back to the school?' A boy Bradley asked.

'At least an hour yet, were going as fast as we can' I said as wandered down the couch again so that I could sit down but before I could sit down the driver of the coach put his breaks down big time.

Now it wasn't uncommon for there to be a cold spell in London. In England in March... but the added pressure to the roads with the snow and ice wasn't great.

Either way when the brakes were hit very hard because a car in front had swerved onto our side of the road I had to panic.

I quickly tried to rush back to my seat but it was too late as the coach swerved and skidded on the road and swung towards the trees.

Nobody - not even the driver saw the trees in front of them... not only did the coach swerve into the tree - the car that had been on the wrong side of the road accidentally had hit us on the side.

Unfortunately I had to be standing up, but I grabbed onto one of the seats as tightly as I could before launching forward and hitting the door of the disgusting toilet with my fire ahead first then as I landed on the floor got thrown across the floor and down the isle to the front of the bus loosing my gripping and screamed at impact before going a little light headed and very drowsy.

Suddenly the coach went pitch black, and as it was the evening in March it was sort of dark anyway.

Thankfully most people had seat belts on so they were likely to be walking wounded but the first priority to Miss Grayling and Mr Davis was that they got this coach of 30 10 and 11 year olds out to safety.

The drive wasn't very alert to what Adrian could see but hadn't even noticed Miss Oswald was missing.

'Right. Everyone keep calm. Bradly. Rosa. That's it. Follow Miss Grayling' Damien instructed checking each and every individual pupil he could and instructed them to the back of the coach if they could.

It seemed the front of the coach had taken the brunt of impact.

'Mr Davis. How we doing on numbers?' Miss Grayling shouted over the rubble.

'Were up to 15. Must be 15 still on bored'

'Yep. We've got a few casualties here' he shouted.

'An ambulance has been called. I have the two teaching assistants watching those out. Just cuts and bruises I think' she said climbing back in as Adrien heard her voice a lot closer than before.

'It's alright Shona. It's most likely just a sprain' Adrien said as he held the arm of the snivelling 10 year old up and put her in the hands of Miss Grayling.

He was determined to get everyone off this coach.

He climbed over some more of the rubble and chairs and found a few more pupils that weren't really injured just too frightened to move.

He managed with a little force to get them up and off the coach safely leaving the number count to 27 pupils meaning there was still three missing.

'I'll go back on again. Come on. Hello. Come on guys I know we're missing you' Adrian shouted as Miss Grayling followed into the rubble with the torch on her phone.

'Wait Clara was at the front of the bus right?'

'Yeah but she got off didn't she? She's with the other kids no?'

'No. She was running a toilet check with one of the girls. Amber' she said as they both realised what must have happened.

Two people were out of their seats as they had crashed.

'Hold on. Look' Miss Grayling said pointing to the smashed in windows where there was glass everywhere but it could be seen the car that was outside.

'Blimey' Adrian said as he heard voices.

'MrDavis?' A voice squeaked.

'James?'

'Quick. It's Avia. I can't get my hand out. It's stuck' James shouted in panic.

Turns out he had been sitting with Avia.

Adrien looked at Miss Grayling as they tried to pull the chair off James' arm first so they could get him out first then get to Avia.

Once he was released Miss Grayling got him to the back of the coach and out as more rustling was made.

Adrien had found Clara.
