Chapter 131 - "Ice Cream Party..."
Clara's PoV
'It's a 7 year olds birthday party? How much straining can there possibly be?' I grumbled pulling on my jacket and regretting it the minute I did it.
'You only came out of hospital awe em who. Nobody expects you to be there. Especially when your 5 months pregnant with broken ribs' John explained.
I knew what he was trying to say. He didn't need to spell it out. But this is a party of a little boy who is suffering just as much as Poppy. They have each other to relate to and to not go would just be a crime.
Plus I've had the worst week in the world at the moment and would just like to go and speak to some different people.
Don't get me wrong - I love Lilly and Richard and John of course but it gets a bit degrading taking to them all the time about my problems.
These people were different.
'I understand your judging and that you can't take her because of work but that doesn't mean that she should miss out' I grumbled picking my bag up.
'How exactly do you propose getting there?' John scoffed referring to the fact that I can't drive.
The station is only a 5 minute walk from here and Poppy will love getting the train. And so will Henry'
'Your taking Henry? Is that a good idea?'
'Of course. He's three and it's a bouncy party. That's how these things work. I've checked with his Mum. She said it's more than fine. I even offered to pay for him' I shrugged.
'How do you proper doing that? You don't have a job' he growled.
'Well that was low. Even for you. I'm going to let it pass however because I know your annoyed that I forgot to tell you' I sighed.
'Look at my pretty party dress Mummy' Poppy said excitedly wearing a pink sparkly tutu skirt and a really adorable cardigan.
'I'm guess Evie dressed you?' I chuckled as Henry ran in with jelled and slicked back hair. It actually was the most adorable thing I have ever seen.
His baby curls are what I love about Henry the most but even when curled the odd curl was still sticking out.
'Yeah. She dressed us' Henry confirmed with his little skinny jeans on, a white shirt buttoned up and blue braces running over his shoulders.
I think myself okay at dressing the kids. Not as good as John of course - he just has an eye (and money) for kids fashion.
Either way Evie loved a good dress up game. She was very much into fashion as well and was changing her mind on her style all the time - every 5 minutes we end up buying her another new outfit to fit the latest trend. But she loved picking outfits out for the little ones.
Sometimes she even chooses Avia's outfits. I know she goes to her for advice.
'Well you look very pretty and Henry is looking very handsome today' I chuckled.

'Hi. You made it' she chuckled.
'Hey. Say hi Poppy' I laughed.
'Hi Poppy' she said in confusion which I just had to have a giggle at as did everyone else.
'Go on. Go and play' I laughed. 'This is Henry. Poppy's half brother. He's three and a half' I explained.
'Wow don't you look like a handsome young fella'
'He knows that. He'll tell you if you let him' I laughed sitting down.
'Poppy is looking really good' she smiled as I spotted Max out of all the children. He was the one without any hair.
Some people loose hair and some people don't during chemo. Poppy didn't. It did thin out though. It became really think and we had to get frequent hair cuts for her in hope that it would be okay.
'How's Max?' I asked.
'He's doing okay. We're just waiting on a bone marrow matching' she explained as I Rose an eyebrow. 'He's our foster son. He doesn't have any biological brothers or sister which is where hey usually get the marrow. He doesn't even have any biological parents as a back up or grandparents. We're struggling to be honest' she smiled.
It made me feel a little bad but everyone's situations are different.
'We only really had Avia as an option. She's the only one of my children who is biologically related to her. The other two are only half' I mumbled making myself sound like such a slut.
Like I've slept with other guys in between. I have but that isn't the point.
'At least you have the option, he's on the transplant list but he's not at his best let's put it that way' she hummed.
I decided then that the conversation had become a bit morbid.
I understand that she's upset but I don't need to think about any possibility of loosing Poppy - so I walked away and went to find the kids.
Poppy was way up high in the bouncy things because she's a little social butterfly whereas Henry hadn't really left the ball pit because he doesn't like new people much.
Actually Henry and Ollie were so close that generally when they go to different social events they struggle on what to do.
Ollie is the social one that drags Henry along and Henry is the pack leader and the brainy one not that ollie doesn't have brains but Henry just uses common sense more.
They have been practically raised together by the same people that it's probably very confusing for the pair.
Especially when both kids will misbehave for both sets of parents because they are so comfortable with themselves.
'Hi Mummy Clara. Will you come and play?' Henry asked as I approached the ball pit and kicked my shoes off.
I probably shouldn't have being pregnant and having broke ribs wasn't really a good mix but it was totally worth it to see the little smile on the his adorable little face. 'Shall we go and get some ice cream?'
'Chocolate ice cream with chocolate sprinkles in a chocolate cone' he said excitedly running for his shoes
