Chapter 1 - "Day of Surprises..."

June 01st 2020

Clara's PoV

'John slow down. Where are we going?' I yelled as I ran after him, trying not to drop my jacket or anything out of my bag or pockets on the way.

He seemed to be in such a rush.

'There's no time to slow down' he yelled back as I walked at a fast pace just to keep up but he was walking way too fast for that.

I could still see him though so he wasn't too far ahead.

I was walking however so fast to keep up with him that when he stopped I went face first into his back because he had stopped so abruptly without any kind of warning for me.

'John?' I scoffed rubbing my nose. He has a stiff back and it bloody hurt.

'What?' He smirked. 'You asked me to slow down' he said with a grin then jumped onto the wall of the fountain that we were standing by.

'John what on earth has gotten into you?' I hummed.

'I'm making the most of the alone time. We're never alone anymore' he pointed out with a shrug.

'That's what happens when you have four kids' I said taking a step up onto the fountain with him, then faced him. 'Why are we here?'

'Because it's Paris... Right by the Eiffel tower' he chuckled jumping down and then digging through his pockets.

He pulled out a 1p coin and flicked it into the fountain.

'Make a wish' I smirked.

'Already have' he said as I jumped down and wrapped my arms around his torso before leaning up to peck his mouth a little.

'Oh really and what's that?'

'I can't tell you. It might not come true' he shrugged with a longing kiss then squirmed from my grip and ran away again.

'Why do you have to be so damn energetic?' I complained following after him again. 'In case you haven't noticed... I'm running for two here' I yelled.

'Oh stop complaining. It's barely the size of a peanut. Evie probably weighs more than the baby at the moment' he scoffed as I managed to catch up with him - a little out of breath and took hold of his hand, lacing his fingers in mine.

'I'll remind you of that the next time you get pregnant' I growled, as he stopped abruptly again and faced me, not letting go of my one hand but resting his other hand on my stomach.

'If only hey' he chuckled. 'Stop moving in there little one. Daddy is trying to make his wish come true' he said to the bump but made me raise an eyebrow.

'So what was your wish then Mr?' I said with a raised eyebrow and a grin.

'For you to say yes' he said out loud. 'Hmm. Does that jinx if? I don't think it does' he mumbled with a smile and then stated rummaging around his pockets on his jeans.

'Huh?' I said confused of course looking back now I don't know why. The signs were all there. Especially with how cheesy he was being.

'My wish was to re marry you... I mean especially now we have another child on the way. If kind of seems like the perfect time' he hummed, producing a small blue box that wasn't open but I knew what was inside it.

'You told me many years ago that after Lucie died you didn't want to get married again' I mumbled.

'It doesn't really count when you plan on marrying the same person again does it?' He scoffed, then flicked open the box. 'Well?'

'I'm not going to give you an answer until you ask me properly. You never proposed last time. We just married out of convenience' I pointed out.

We just decided one day to get married after graduation from university and that was it. Decision made.

'What like down on one knee and everything?' He whined. 'I never even did that to Lucie' he scoffed.

'Yes down on one knee' I grinned, running a thumb along his cheek and smiling excitedly about what was about to happen. 'And if you could not mention the previous engagement whilst proposing to me - then you might get more chance of a yes' I smirked.

'Well then' he growled sexily. 'It's a good job I prepared a speech earlier then isn't it?' He said and dropped down onto one knee in the middle of a small street by the Eiffel Tower in Paris.

If was hopelessly cheesy but ridiculously romantic. It was the most romantic thing I had ever experienced.

'So come on then. You've hated me, I've hated you. We've got some biological kids together, your pregnant and have one of my organs inside you. Don't think I could prove anymore how much I love you' he hummed in a stupid jokey proposal.

'Well there is one way... But we can't do that here' I giggled giving him quite the mental image that I was sure he would follow through with when we were back safely in the confines of our hotel.

'We have a love hate relationship and I couldn't imagine it any other way Clara - so what do you say? Re marry me?' He grinned as I pretended to think about it making him suddenly nervous.

I could tell by his face that he thought I was overthinking it.

'Of course you idiot' I grinned, as he stood up and I wrapped my arms around his neck kissing him until he was breathless. 'I didn't even have to think about it' I grinned, as he span me around a little then kissed me before dropping me to the ground.

'Blimey. You are getting heavy' he joked, as I rolled my eyes.

'I'm pregnant. What do you expect?' I rambled as he gave me the ring - which had been updated since the last time but was still too my surprise the original engagement ring from all those years ago.

'Meh. It's not really you. I'm just verging on 35. I'm getting old. You and that kid practically put my back out' he laughed kissing my forehead as I analysed how nicely and pristinely the ring sat on my finger.

'Oh please. You didn't complain about being old in bed when we made this baby' I giggled.
