Chapter 101 - "Attention..."
Clara's PoV
'Fine' Evie growled as Clara told her she wouldn't take her to the stables because she needed to go to the hospital.
Evie was so sick of being pushed aside and not getting to go where she wanted to go. She was so sick of Poppy getting all the attention.
Even when Evie was in the hospital herself last week she was practically ignored because Poppy was more sick than she was.
And it wasn't fair.
She understands that Poppy is sick and that she needs the attention but she was sick of not getting to do anything or go any where other than go to school.
'Where are you going?' Henry asked with his little lisp running after Evie who had run into the garden and down the bottom where she liked to hide out.
'Go away you baby' she growled.
'I am not a baby' Henry scoffed. 'I don't even pee in my own pants anymore' he said determined and stamping his feet. 'I'm 3' he protested stubbornly just like his father.
If there was one thing he was - it was like his father. He could be seriously stubborn.
'Leave me alone Henry' Evie said rolling her eyes and climbing up the tree. Of course this was a trait that he had passed on to all of his kids of course.
She loved this tree but if John or Clara ever caught her climbing up it then she would be in trouble.
Which was the exact reason as to why she was climbing up it.
The way she looked at it - getting in trouble was better than not being noticed at all at the moment. She spent more time with lilly and Richard these days than her own parents.
And it wasn't like they were her real aunt and uncle. They were just insignificant people. With the exception of Richard of course.
'Can I come?' Henry asked innocently not wanting to miss out on the fun. He loved spending time with Evie because she was so much fun to play with. And a lot of the time she enjoyed playing with him. Just sometimes she could be a little stubborn.
'What? No. No. Go away. Go and play with some babies toys' she said rolling her eyes. For 9 years old she was quite the teenager.
She really was 9 going on 19 sometimes.
Actually most of the time.
Henry of course being only 3 didn't listen. He wanted to follow her - so he did just that.
Climbing on to one of the branches in an attempt to catch up with her he climbed a little way before screaming out and clinging on tightly.
'Evie. Evie I'm stuck' he said amidst the lisp and clung on tightly.
'Don't be a baby. Your not even that high up' she said rolling her eyes not even attempting to look down until she heard a loud thump followed by tears. 'Henry?'
Avia heard the thump and came running into the garden and then yelled for Clara.

'What on earth is going on between you thre- Henry?' I squeaked as he sat up with the help of Avia and had tears spilling from his eyes clutching his arm in his hand.
'It-- it hurts Mummy Clara' he cried with tears pooling from his eyes.
I instantly crouched down and took hold of his arm and felt it to which he squeaked because it must have hurt.
'It might be broken Mummy' Avia said as a little mother looking after her brother.
'Come on buddy. Can you stand up for me?' I said as I looked at him. 'What happened?'
'Evie was climbing the tree. I climbed the tree too' he said with tears dribbling down his little chubby cheeks and the scene in front of me made me heart broken.
'Inside now' I gritted at Evie as Avia helped Henry into the house and onto the sofa as I pulled my phone from my back pocket and dialled Richard whilst multitasking and grabbing an ice pack our of the freezer to put on his arm in hope of it maybe helping.
'Clara? Were busy' he whined.
'Richard. I know. But Henry has fallen out of the tree and I think he may have broken his arm. I need to take him to the hospital. Any chance you could--'
'I'm not even going to let you finish the sentence' he sighed.
'Great. So I'll get one of the neighbours to watch the girls--?
'Avia and Evie are the only ones there? I'll be half an hour? You could leave them alone for half an hour. Avia is 11 now' he suggested.
'No Richard. Evie is the reason Henry fell out of the tree. I'm not letting her loose on her own' I scoffed already hanging up and ran into the lounge some calpol and a teddy bear ice pack.
He had seemed to have calmed down quite a bit since I had left him but that's only because Avia was doing such a good job at consoling him.
'Does it still hurt?' I asked him pushing his little quif out of his face and he nodded sadly which pushed me into action.

So things were seriously spinning out of control when I realised I now had 3 people in my immediate life hospitalised and every single one of them was in my care.
Okay Ervin wasn't directly in the hospital anymore but we still had to keep a close eye on her for relapses.
The only reason I freaked out about her climbing the tree was that she could have a second fit at any time and the fact that she had been up a tree - if she had a fit up there she would have fallen from extremely high up and could have even died.
I lifted Henry into my arms and carried him towards the cubicle that one of the nurses had called us too and told us to wait.
He was miserable so I could tell he was hurt because most of the time he was bouncing off the walls much like Evie was when she was his age.
'Henry Smith?'
'Yep that's this little man' I hummed lifting him onto the bed as he clutched at his teddy and blanket as the doctor started explaining things.
'So he fell out of a tree correct?'
'I wasn't there but that's what I was told' I mumbled feeling a little guilty.
'Well it is a small break but it's a clean break and at his age will just heal naturally but we are going to need to put it in a plaster to protect it' he explained.
