Chapter 147 - The Nursery..."
Clara's PoV
'Ugh. I'm huge' I complained when I got half way up the stairs and had to stop for a breather.
Apparently that happens and isn't uncommon in your last few weeks of pregnancy.
I even stop for breath on the way down the stairs these days.
'Are you sure you want to come to IKEA? There's a lot of walking involved in that. You might benefit a bit more from staying here?'
'Nope. I'm coming to IKEA. I want to pick out the pretty furniture'
'You sound just like the kids' he said rolling his eyes.
'Yep' I huffed sitting on the bed and looking down at my feet then back up at John with pleading eyes.
'Do you want me to put your boots on?' He signed crouching down.
'I'm sure I could manage if you get me a hanger' I suggested.
'Don't be ridiculous' he said with a huge eye roll.

'Henry get down' John snapped pulling at Henrys arm as he was climbing one of the bunk beds.
'Why?'
'Because it's furniture and it's not yours. You've got your shoes on' he said as a pathetic reason then spotted Poppy climbing over the desk.
She looked like she might break it.
As soon as he turned around he saw Henry giggling from the top of the bunk bed and John had his angry face on.
'I told you not to go up there'
'I took my shoes off' he said in a Lispy voice then jumped down running away from John with no shoes on still.
I sighed and bent down to pick the toddlers shoes up then pushed the trolley towards the baby section and was so tearful at all cute stuff.
It was moments like these that I wished I knew the gender of the baby so that I could pick out the colour of the nursery or the colour of the cot it'll need. Or the bedsheets and baby grows.
'What the hell is all this?' John scoffed forcing Henrys lanky little skinny legs through the hole of the trolley so that we could finally get something done.
Evie had gone out this morning with Richard to the stables because Ollie wanted to go on the horses and so we had left Avia at home on her own for the first time since she had turned 11.
If was okay for a few hours but I knew she'd be okay for days on her own really. She's so clever that she can definitely look after herself.
'Well we need the basket for it to sleep in. And the wardrobe and changing table. Basically we need everything that we had for Henry that we decided to throw away'
'How was I supposed to know back then that we were going to have another kid three and a half years later' John snapped.
'Okay. I'm just saying. We have to get it all again now. Things have changed' I hummed. 'Now. Where's Poppy?' I smirked seeing her talking to one of the Ikea members of staff about rugs.
'Oh for gods sake. Get one under control and the other one gets off the lead' John moaned running to save the poor staff member.

'Are you just going to sit and watch me build this?' John asked as I was properly testing out the baby chair in the corner of the room.
The pair of us had been quite reluctant to buy anything baby wise until now. That includes clothes or furniture because we didn't want to jinx anything - but with the due date being tomorrow - we figured that maybe now was the time to start doing something about it.
'That was the plan. I am not cut out to be this pregnant' I sighed resting a hand on my stomach. 'Actually Evie' I yelled as a head popped around the door of what used to be their room.
I'd never actually been this pregnant. I was actually 9 months pregnant. I've never got passed 7 months.
'Yeah?'
'Is there any donuts downstairs? I'm starving' I said as she sighed walking away.
'Your eating for 2 not 8. You've already had two donuts this morning'
'I like donuts, can't help it' I muttered. 'Want some help?' I asked as he was looking at the instructions of the cot which really made no difference because the baby wouldn't sleep in here anyway for at least 4 - 6 months.
'No. no. You just sit there. Put your feet up. I've got two Bob the builders on their way' he smirked as I raised an eyebrow just as the door opened to the room with Richard and two boys in hard hats with tools.
'Oh my god. You two look so fricken cute' I laughed.
'Go downstairs. We've got this' he said. '4 men can put up a cot' he chuckled as I laughed but grabbed my coat anyway.
Lilly and I were off clothes shopping anyway. 'See you later. Don't make too much mess' I hummed.

Six shops and 15 bags later - me and Lilly were sat in the food court as I stuffed two pizzas and a coffee.
'I'm exhausted' I groaned.
'Yep that happens when your pregnant. Take it from me'
'I know lil. I've just never been this far along a pregnancy before. I'm due tomorrow. It's madness' I sighed.
'Is the nursery finished?'
'Nearly. John and the boys are putting the cot up today and the shelves and I'll finish making it cosy when I get back'
'What happened with the whole Danny fight?'
'Ugh. I can't believe that three years and marriage later he's still going on and worried about it' I moaned.
'He's just worried. I can't blame him. Danny hurt you and he hates to see you hurt'
'Well he said I can go to the wedding but that he won't come and that none of the kids is going anywhere near the wedding'
'Can he do that?'
'Yep'
'I'll come with you' she hummed.
'Really?'
'Of course I will' she laughed with a nibble of her pizza.
