Chapter 107 - "Brief trip Home...?"
Clara's PoV
'So... you really want to bring her home in all this?' I scoffed Monday morning as the back door was wide open and eight different men were wandering through with their muddy boots with carpet and windows.
It was a nightmare.
The OCD in me just wanted to follow Behring then with a mop and bucket but John told me I have to wait until they leave in the evenings to do that.
'Well... Maybe we could put her off for another day. Today might not be the best day' he mumbled in agreement straightening Henrys tie.
Henry could not do up his tie.
We were trying but it was proving completely impossible. In all fairness to him he was only 3 years old.
Ollie couldn't do a tie either which made me laugh some mornings when Lilly drops Ollie over.
I can do a tie so would help do them up but Lilly can't and Richard is normally already gone by the time Ollie gets up.
I now do the school runs because I'm going that way anyway - I take them all too school.
Lilly picks the boys up at 12 because they only nursery school until 12 and then she used to get Poppy at 12:30 because she's in the little part of the year.
Avia stays until 4 anyway every night to use the library and do her clubs and Evie just causes problems.
In all fairness she hadn't been at school the last few days having only just come out of the hospital. So it was her first proper week back.
'It looks like a shambles in here John' I complained.
'I know. It's becoming dangerous. I was thinking of asking your Dad to take the others for a few days. Get them out of the way?' John suggested.
'Hmm. Yeah Linda will love that. Getting up at 6am for getting them ready for school' I scoffed. I could just hear her now.
'You would still take them to school' John pointed out.
'True'
'And it would mean they Poppy could come home because we could set what she needs up in the lounge and then I'll put an air mattress up in the lounge. It'll be fine' he shrugged. 'Well be with her the whole time'
'Maybe that is a good idea? I might go and see my dad after work to be honest. I don't think he even knows I'm pregnant. I haven't seen him in ages' I hummed.
'Do I have to come?'
'No. You go and see Poppy' I assured him.

'Ugh what do you want? We haven't seen you in bloody weeks' Linda growled.
'Yeah. That's sort of my fault. We've had a lot going on' I defended.
'I'm sure you have. Is getting your self knocked up again one of them?' She said straightaway.
It wasn't exactly a hidden bump was it? That I could agree with.
'You what?' Dad scolded.
'Yeah alright dad. Don't look so bloody shocked' I said with an eye roll.
'Where are the kids?'
'At home..: of course they'll soon be here' I smiled having already phoned my dad earlier in the day and checked that it would be okay with him.
He agreed that he would do it because he hasn't seen the kids in so long but i had no doubt in my mind that he hadn't mentioned it to Linda quite yet.
'You what? We do not need 4 bratty kids running around here Dave' she spat.
'It's only for s few days' he grumbled. 'Come in Clara' he smiled making Linda move out of the way to allow me in. 'Are you really pregnant again?' He asked looking a little winded by it.
'Look you might think it's ridiculous but I'm 35. I don't want to have kids much later than now. I don't want to be an old Mum. It's really sort of my last chance before I get too near my forties' I said with a massive shiver.
Just even thinking about being that old made me want to cry. Thankfully I've been 29 every year for the last 6 years but I can't keep that up for much longer.
'Well you've got so many kids that another kid really isn't going to make too much difference I suppose' he shrugged with an eye roll. 'Cup of tea?'
'That would be great' I smiled.

I sat in the lounge noting the fact that he had redecorated. I could smell the paint that was making me gag enough at home let alone when I come somewhere else.
Then I however heard shouting and it could only really be coming from the kitchen because that was the only other room in the house that was occupied.
So I did what any great daughter would do. I pressed my ear up against the wall and listened in.
'We are not looking after those kids while she goes off gallivanting again. Not happening' Linda snapped.
'In case you haven't noticed. She's not gallivanting her daughter cancer and she's pregnant herself' dad defended.
'And who's fault is that? Because it's not mine' Linda yelled. 'One of the kids isn't even directly related to you and she expects you to look after it. Pft. Not happening'
'Well this is my house and I'll have my grandkids come to stay if I want too. If your not happy about it go elsewhere' he shouted as she stormed out of the kitchen and I heard the bedroom door slam.
I took a deep breath and sat on the sofa before dad walked in and gave him a look.
'Don't give me that look. She's been even more of a nightmare lately than usual' he scoffed.
'You don't have to look after them. We can always send them--'
'Do not even finish that sentence. I'll have them. Linda can go and spend the next few days at her Mums. At least that way I don't have to put up with her' he said with an eye roll. 'So girl or boy?'
'Total surprise'
