Chapter 25 - "Party Planning..."

Clara's PoV

'Do you not think this is a little over board for a three year olds birthday party?' I questioned as I popped Henry onto the floor and he ran towards Ollie dressed up as spider man.

'No. Why?' She said smugly.

She had created the perfect party for Ollie this year - although his birthday was actually yesterday - the party fell on Halloween - so she had decided to throw a Spider-Man/marvel themed birthday party. Thus the reason that there was about 20 kids dressed up like superman, spider man and the Incredible Hulk.

This year was the first year that Ollie was properly in school in nursery - so it was all the kids that were in his class which meant that all the parents were people I should probably get to know.

I know that Henry isn't my biological son - but as his motherly figure - I feel I should have a say and get somewhat involved.

'Put the phone down Evie' I snapped removing it from her hand.

'But Mummy its so boring here' she scoffed, poking at a sausage roll.

It probably was boring for a 9 year old. But I didn't care - she was here to keep track of the kids with me since Avia was at a dance rehearsal.

Lilly has a habit of having to outdo herself every single year - claiming that Ollie was a miracle and that she won't deny him a party or whatever he wants on his birthday.

'When's Dad getting here?' Evie asked.

'Why?'

'He said he'd take me shopping this afternoon after this stupid party for baby's'

'Excuse me this stupid party for babies is your little brothers birthday' I said with a raised eyebrow.

'I want to go shopping' she huffed.

'Well he didn't run it by me. But I suppose if you help me watch Poppy then you can go' I said as she rolled her eyes.

The attitude was starting to become a real problem.

'What's up with her?' John smirked as he appeared with spider man on his hip eating a suspiciously blue cupcake.

'Dramatic as per usual. Wants to go shopping with Richard this afternoon'

'Yeah I know. I said she could go. Richard ran it by me' John said he's as Poppy appeared. 'How can I help?'

'Can I eat this?' She asked innocently.

'Huh? Can she eat it?' I asked looking at John who was generally in charge of her diet.

He knew more about what she could and couldn't eat than I did.

'There's no milk in cupcakes - so yes your fine' he chuckled as she ran off again.

She was pretty good at asking us what she could and couldn't eat and would normally ask us first if she could eat it.

We decided not to hide it from her that she had to be careful what she eats and in the long run that has worked out because now she's 4 and a half and very mature for her age. Always double checks with us first.

'So. Did you find your birthday present?' I grinned looking up at him as the two year old squirmed out of his grip and ran away.

'I might have found a very neatly wrapped green box on the sofa waiting for me for when I got home this afternoon' he smirked. 'And I knew by the way the bow was wrapped around it that it had to be the work of my little neat freak' he grinned.

'Did you open it?'

'What do you think?' He laughed holding his wrist up and then wrapping his arms around my waist. 'It's really nice. I love it' he laughed kissing me carefully as he showed his new Apple Watch off to himself and everyone around him.

'Did you find the other present?' I whispered.

'The one under the pillow on my side of the bed?' He smirked. 'You can bring that on the honeymoon... I like a woman with curves' he growled quietly.

'Scrap the honeymoon... I'm wearing that on the wedding night' I grinned as Richard breathed over the top of us a loud sigh.

'That is absolutely disgusting. Hold it together' he spat, laughing but pretending to be disgusted at the same time.

'Your just jealous that you haven't had sex since splitting with Lilly' John said rolling his eyes.

'Not for much longer. Got a date tonight'

'A date? Your not going back home to spend the evening with your son on his birthday?' I asked confused.

'I wasn't going to no. What's there for me to see?

'Richard' I scoffed slapping him.

'Little dude is only three. He'll know no different' Richard said rolling his eyes. 'Now where is Evie? I've heard something about a top she just absolutely has to have otherwise she might die and I wouldn't want that' he said dramatically.

It's not wonder she's so blooming dramatic.

'She can buy her own tops. It's not like she doesn't have her own money saved' I said rolling my eyes.

'Just let her go Clara' John said as Richard wandered towards her and her eyes lit up that this was her chance to get out of here.

'Bye Mummy. Bye Daddy' she hummed taking Richards hand and leaving with him towards his car.

'When did you get so pathetic?' I complained.

'Since I turned 35' he groaned, going to sit down. 'I swear I'm getting too old for all this' he complained.

'Your 35. Not 55' I scoffed.

'Don't even. I found another grey hair this morning and I swear it's those kids'

'Yeah probably... Just dye it' I hummed.

'I am not dying my hair. I'm not that grey... Unless your suggesting that I am and that I need too' he said in a panic.

'Just stop being such an old man. We're going bowling tonight. The lane is booked' I said with a peck and then went to see what poppy was up too. Left to her own devices she can be a problems.
