Chapter 63 - "Movie Day..."
Clara's PoV
'Why do we have to see that?' Avia asked annoyed.
She was such a teenager before her time sometimes.
I had suggested that we go and see frozen 2 because it had just come out and Poppy was really excited for it. She loved the first one and we knew she'd love this one.
Then we were coming home and hopefully putting up the Christmas tree.
'Because Poppy is 4 and Henry is nearly 3. The films we see have to be age appropriate for them' i said.
'I can't wait to turn 12. Then I can see adult films' she whined.
'You haven't even turned 11 yet' I scoffed.
'Yeah but when I turn 12 I don't have to see baby films' she scoffed rudely.
'Please Avia just do this for Poppy'
'Everything we do is for Poppy' she said stubbornly.
'If you do this then we can put up the Christmas tree later on. We're all going to the forest to choose it later on' I hummed as Poppy appeared liking like a drowned rat. 'What the hell have you been doing?'
'Cleaning my teeth'
'So I can see' I laughed.
- - -
'So what did you think?' I asked as I was arguing Henry to the car because he was too lazy to walk and his little rues were too cute to say no too when he begged for a carry.
'I yikes Nemo'
'Well it wasn't Nemo it was Dory' I explained as he gripped to the cute fish cup he got in the cinema and swung his legs as he gripped to my neck.
Turns out a trip to the cinema with six people is not as easier as you would like. Especially six fussy people.
'Tree. Tree' Henry clapped.
'Yeah. Do you remember the tree from last year?' I asked as he shook his head. He was only little.,
What was funny was that it was about 20 days away from Christmas but 19 days away from his birthday.
It's really hard explaining to a three year old the difference between birthday presents and Christmas presents.
- - -
'Right. Give me the box' I grinned as John dropped the cardboard box filled with decorations on the floor and then sifted his coat and gloves on to go and chop the tree down a little smaller.
'Mummy why is he making it smaller? I like the tree bigger and fat' Evie scoffed not really taking her head up from her phone.
The only reason she was here was because she apparently it would be a quote: "an awesome Instagram moment"
Evie doesn't really get involved with things. The sooner she moves out the better I have to be honest and judge it by the fact that she is 10 years older than her time she should be moving out any day now.
'Well it can't be taking up the whole lounge now can it? Do you want to put your bauble on it?'
'Decorating is for babies' she scoffed.
'I'm not a baby' Poppy scoffed, as she lifted her head from the sofa excited about getting to decorate but she didn't quite have the energy to get up.
'You alright munchkin?' I asked knowing that the Cinema and the whole day had really taking it out of her actually.
'I want to chop the tree with daddy' she pouted but because she was so sick and susceptible to anything I really didn't want her out in the cold any longer than she needed to be and right now she really didn't need to be.
'Daddy will come and decorate with you in a bit' I hummed.
- - -
'Clara? Could I have a word?' John asked as I handed Poppy the tinsel and got up off the floor to talk to John.
'This is all a bit mysterious what's up?'
'I want to give Avia her birthday present' he hummed.
'What?' Her birthday isn't until next Sunday. She can wait a week John' I scoffed as he pouted shaking his head.
'No it can't. It has to be now' he said as I looked at him weirdly. I didn't even know what the present was.
'We haven't even discussed this? What the hell have you got her?' I asked as he told me to sit and hold the envelope.
'Daddy? Me and Evie are watching Friends I'm going to miss it' she pouted whining to John.
'I think you'll like the reason I pulled you away' he smirked handing her the envelope.
'What?'
'Open it'
'Is it an early birthday card? Isn't it bad luck to open a birthday card earl--'
'Just open it' John scoffed cutting her off.
I watched her carefully and precisely open the envelope torturing John who was obviously desperate for hers and my reaction.
'What is it?' She asked.
'Read the tickets'
'London Heathrow. Friday December 8th. 11am. New York? Oh my god are we going to New York?' Avia squeaked as she held the tickets and ran at John on pure excitement.
'You and Mummy are going to New York. Next weekend. You'll be there for your birthday' he explained as she hugged him really tightly and then hugged me and then ran from the room to go and tell Evie.
'John I'm not going to New York' I said. 'The thought was nice but I'm not leaving Poppy'
'Poppy will be fine for 4 days. You need the break and 11 years old is more of a mother bonding age with a girl rather than a father. I'm not really the one am I?' He smirked.
'4 days? When did you book this?'
'Just after you had mentioned how you wanted to do it with each of them as a special thing for theory 11th birthday'
'Well I might not actually get to do that with all of them' I sniffed.
'Yes you will. Don't be ridiculous. Poppy will have an 11th birthday too and you'll go to New York. Plus Avia is going to help out poppy so she does deserve a treat in someways'
