Chapter 84 - "Go..."

Clara's PoV

That night I really struggled to sleep - mainly because Poppy had me up all night but also because I couldn't stop feeling guilty about having dragged her out here.

I know we had decided that we would stay in LA but I just don't think I could do it.

So at 3am I was on John's laptop researching flights home.

Thankfully we get the flight home for pretty much half price because of the mess up with the flight to Chicago.

But money wasn't the problem here. It was the fact that I wanted to get me and Poppy home where she was in a safe environment.

'Go' I said in more of a demand actually having thought about it for quite some hours now. It was the next morning and I pretty much demanded it to him as he woke up.

John was much better - not his best - but much better than he was. Avia had pretty much recovered with Henry being back to his normal self as well.

'What are you talking about? Go where?'

'To Chicago. I know you want too... and I don't want to be the one that has held you back'

'I'm not going to Chicago Clara' he said rolling his eyes.

'Why?'

'Because you need me here' he hummed.

'Not true. Because me and Poppy are going home tomorrow night. I've already booked flights and booked flights for you and the others to Chicago'

'Why would you do that?' He scoffed.

'Because I can see how much you want to go. You deserve to to' I hummed. 'Go and see your family. Poppy and I will be fine. We'll be on our way back to Heathrow tomorrow evening' I said in assurance.

'I don't want to look like a terrible father' he whined.

'You won't. We have to continue our lives as normal. All the books say it. We can't dance around it. We have to be upfront. Just get on with the things that we were doing before instead of feeling so guilty' I pointed out.

'So your telling me your taking her back to London because you don't feel guilty?'

'No I do feel a little guilty but you would still go on business trips and things whether she's sick or not. It'll make little to no difference. You have to go' I said already splitting the cases up.

- - -

'Call me when you land?' I said as I had Poppy in my arms and kissed each of the kids foreheads feeling pretty bad that I wasn't going with them but they all understood. And if they didn't understand now then they would in the future.

I'm doing this in the health interests of Poppy.

I then proceeded to give John a quick peck on the mouth.

'You too. Call me before you take off. When you land. When you get home and when you go to bed' he smirked.

'Wow that's going to be one hefty phone bill' I said rolling my eyes.

'Please just do it' he whined.

'Agreed' I laughed turning around with Poppy and headed for the car that we had rented a few days after Christmas. 'So what do you want to do today Pop?'

'Disney' she squeaked and I wondered how she had even worked out that we were near Disney but perhaps John had mentioned it to her.

'Disney? Huh? Maybe that's not such a bad idea?' I thought out loud. Not the parks or anything just the downtown side of Disney.

There's plenty of shops and the huge Disney shop. That's the best bit. And then she can tell everyone that she's been?

'Okay. Let's go to Disney' I said putting the car into drive.

- - -

'She's happy' I said humming down the phone as I watched Poppy skip around the Disney shop getting the confirmation that John had landed indeed in Chicago with the other kids.

She had a Mickey Mouse balloon attached to her wrist skipping around deciding what toy she wanted to get from the Disney shop.

'I'll bet she is. Disney is the happiest place on earth' he chuckled.

'It's also the most expensive place on early. Damn Mouse wants an arm and a leg for a bloody balloon' I said rolling my eyes.

'How long you staying for?'

'I was thinking that the parade is at 6... we might go'

'Doesn't that mean going into actual Disney the park?' He scoffed.

'What the other kids don't know won't hurt them' I pointed out.

'The other kids will have plenty of activities planned over the next couple of days. They'll get over it' John pointed out.

'Hmm.'

- - -

'Okay I think we might need a quick bath' I laughed as Poppy skipped through the hotel room door and jumped straight on the bed to open one of her knew Disney dolls.

She was so happy - in fact I hadn't seen her this happy in a long time.

She'd made such an improvement in the last few hours - especially since I had managed to get a meal down her. And a proper meal at that. Plus she had half an ice cream at lunchtime.

The parade was at six and she was more than excited about that. She got a glow stick magic wand and a Mickey hat when we got into the park and we got a good seat. She then continued to have wide eyes until we left the park where she announced she was hungry.

That just rarely happens.

Either way I decided to hit up the rainforest cafe which was just outside the park and we were seated pretty much immediately. You'd think it would have been the busiest time but I'm sure I spotted some people eying up the needles in her hand.

Either way I took the table without fight and Poppy ate over three quarters of the chicken nuggets strips and chips meal.

It was pretty successful all round really.

'I don't want a bath' she said playing with the Cinderella doll and brushing her hair claiming that this doll was the doll of her American girl doll.

I just shrugged and let her have fun as I collapsed on the bed in exhaustion.

Things were starting to look up. For now
