Chapter 104 - "Hospital Visit...

Clara's PoV

'Adrien please. I'm desperate. She's so deflated. She really needs a pick me up and your the person to do it?' I begged on Thursday afternoon in the playground.

The pair of us were on duty for the infants at this lunchtime.

'Wouldn't it be a bit weird if her teacher just turned up at the hospital?'

'No. I'm inviting two of her friends from the class. Branden and Chloe. Apparently the three of them were inseparable?'

'They were. They've really missed Poppy and ask about her every single day' Adrian sighed. 'Would I be responsible for them too?'

'No. Their parents will come along too because it's quite an intense process to get let on the ward' I shrugged.

'Okay. Fine. I'll do it' he grumbled.

'Yay. I owe you one so much' I said hugging him tightly then resumed the playground duty extremely happy of the progress I had made.

'God that trip with you in Easter is going to be awful isn't it?' Adrian complained as I spotted Avia walking towards me.

'You should be in the year 6 playground Avia' I hummed.

'I know. I just came to ask if I can go to Daisy's after school?'

'Why?'

'Because he Mum and Dad invited me for tea.' She scoffed.

'Yeah okay. But Your Dad will pick you up at 7. You have school tomorrow' I shouted but she was gone.

'Big day soon huh?'

'What do you mean?' I mumbled.

'The 11+ results. They pretty much determine Avia's future right?'

'Please don't remind me. We're going to visit on of the schools we applied for next week. The snobby one that she really wants to go too' I hummed as one of the kids fell over and I had to go and do an office run.

'He says he'd pop in after school tomorrow and her two friends are coming tomorrow as well. I'm rather excited I have to say' I clapped, jumping in the shower as John threw a t shirt on.

'Shall I go to the hospital now?' He asked.

'Oh now I see why you came home. Quick shag of the mrs and back to the hospital'

'No' he scoffed. 'Although I didn't see you complaining' he smirked as I shut the shower door and he sat on the toilet.

All modesty had gone. We were as open now as you would expect.

He takes a dump while I shower. It's quicker that way. We've turned into one of those married couples that I never wanted to be.

'Yeah well you can't mess with the emotions of a pregnant woman. It's not fair. Especially when that pregnant woman is me' I complained.

'Alright. I won't go to the hospital. She'll be fine right?'

'She'll be fine' I agreed hoping that was true.

As soon as I had dressed out of the shower John had decided that he was going to bed whilst I unlocked the bedroom door and decided to go downstairs for a bit.

Maybe do some late night cleaning.

'What the He--'

'Your not allowed to swear' Evie said rolling her eyes.

'What in gods name are you doing down here? It's half past 10 at night. Your bedtime is half 8' I snapped quite rudely at her.

'How am I supposed to sleep. All I do is sleep' she said rolling her eyes. 'And I'm much better now. I don't even feel sick anymore. Can I go back to school tomorrow?'

'No. I don't need any more stress. You can stay home for one more day' i said with a smile. For most kids they would jump at that. A day off at home while their pretty much better.

'Ugh. But dad will try to make me play video games with him or something? I don't want to spend the day with him again' she whined.

'Well your in luck because Richard has to go to work tomorrow so you'll be following Lilly around all day. Friday is shopping day so you can help with that. Then you can help watch your crazy brothers in the afternoon and if you like you can come to the hospital in the evening? Or you can stay home and play video games with your dad?' I said as a bargain.

'I honestly think I'd rather go shopping' she mumbled.

'Back to bed with you'

'How come you get to stay up past 9?' She complained.

'Because I'm not 9 years old. When your 12 you can do what you want'

'That's only two years away' she grinned.

'Don't reminds me' I said rolling my eyes.

'Hey Poppy' Adrian said as Poppy's little face lit up at the sight of her class teacher.

Adrian had obviously been very busy with he class today and had gotten them to make cards and nice pictures for Poppy.

I was there the day that Adrian explained to the group of 4 and 5 year olds as to why Poppy wouldn't be in school for a long time.

They all had to know and a letter was sent out to the parents of the whole school. Not details just enough to know that she wasn't well and that she needed to be treated extra nicely when in school.

John and I have an aim of getting her back to school before her 5th birthday.

We really want her to finish the school year even if she only does a couple of months of it. Even if the worst case is that she only does a couple of days a week.

It is only February so I can see potential for the Summer term. She'll be limited on what she can do but at least she'd be around other children again all the time.

Watching her play with her two little friends this afternoon made me realise that she was missing out on so much. And that Poppy was seriously being affected by missing if.

She was behind on her reading and writing and even her speech.

'Hi Mr Davies. I dided work for you. See' she said excitedly holding up the piece of paper that had taken days to do but wasn't the point - at least she got to do it.
