Chapter 167 - "GrandParents..."

Clara's PoV

'It's been three and a half years. This is just the weirdest thing' I complained. 'What's even more weird is the fact that they managed to track you down' I scoffed.

'No one uses phone books anymore but the internet is a good tool' John hummed slicking Henrys hair to the side and making sure that he was dressed well.

John didn't want him looking sloppy for this meeting.

He did not need any excuses to be blamed or called a bad parent.

He was wearing his little skinny jeans with suspenders over his white Ralph Lauren shirt and white socks on.

He looked very cute actually. I don't know how you could look at him and fall in love with his adorable little looks.

'Now no eating until you've met these people' John mumbled straightening him out and kissed his forehead.

'Why do I have to meet them? I have a grandad' Henry scoffed itching himself because John had put him in a proper shirt and skinny jeans to look smart.

'Because Grandad Dave isn't really your Grandad because Clara isn't your real mummy is she?' John tried explaining but seriously how the hell do you explain all this to a three and a half year old?

They hadn't had any contact in three and a half years - why should they get to meet him and play with him? I've done all the bloody hard work.

'So... What about your Mummy and Daddy then?' He asked curiously which actually I didn't see coming.

'Well I don't have a Daddy like Clara doesn't have a Mummy' he said hoping that would be enough.

It wasn't.

He was way too questionable.

'So... Do you have a Mummy?' He asked with a raised eyebrow.

Literally every question that he asked followed up with another when we answered it. He was too smart for his own good.

'I do... but she lives a long way away' he pointed out. 'Now I want you on your best behaviour' he hummed as the door bell went and he lifted Henry into his arms and placed him on his waist.

'I'm going to go into the other room' I mumbled as John grabbed my hand.

'No your not. Your my wife. We have kids together. We have a baby together. You can stay no matter how uncomfortable these people make you' John scoffed.

He stepped forward and pulled the front door open and smiled.

Julie took an instant look at Henry and smiled a big broad smile at seeing him.

It made me sick because she hadn't been interested in him until now. She'd never even tried to get in contact before now. So why should she be thrilled that she is seeing her grandson.

'You must be little henry' she smiled stepping forward to touch his hand but Henry sifted himself so that his head was in the crook of John's neck and his hands were not in view of the old lady. 'I'm your grandma' she said insulted.

'Yeah a great one that hasn't seen him ever!' I mumbled going to make the tea.

When I came back into the lounge with a few cups of tea and coffee Henry was playing with his cars track and John was on the floor with him.

Henry wasn't really making any effort with them but I could see that John was holding the chat together.

'We bought you a present' Julie said as Henry looked up.

I could tell it was the first time that she had gotten a good look at his facial features because at obvious to me everyday how he looks like Lucie.

I mean he looks more and more like John than anyone. Especially since his has John's eyes. He's the only green eyed child in the family.

It would be the first Christmas or birthday present the poor kid had ever gotten off of them so I was intrigued. 'It's nothing much. Just a little token gift' she assured as Henry slowly took it from her hand and then ran back to John with it.

To be fair to him Henry is a very shy little boy when he wants to be but at other times can be very loud and outgoing. It's quite funny to see all of both of his parents in him and I hate to point it out but he even had a little bit of me in him- even if it isn't genetics.

'What is it buddy?' John tried.

'Cars' he squeaked climbing off of John's lap and warming up to all the people in the room, as he pushed his trucks and cars around the floor and through everyone's legs.

'We might nor have any right to ask but I take it he is developing okay? All all good there?' Julie tried.

'Well he's at the top of his class for pretty much everything' John scoffed.

'Class?' Jack said for the first time since walking in the house. He really had no interest in Henry I could tell. But Julie really did and I could see that given half a chance she would love to her to know her grandson.

'All our kids go to a private school. They all started at 2 and a half and are getting the best education that I or anyone else could possibly give them'  John hummed.

'We really would like to get to see him again' Julie mumbled as they were about to leave.

'Why? It's been over 3 and a half almost 4 years since he was born. Why now?'

'Because when he was born our daughter had just died' Julie mumbled still sounding a little sad about which I couldn't blame her for.

'He's a vary polite and well mannered young man. So I can't fault you there' Jack said taking Julie by the back of her shirt and left.

'Was that a compliment?' John asked a little confused by all of what had just happened.
