Chapter 15 - Final Exams

Throughout the day, the rest of the class became aware of what happened in relation to the Stain situation. After all, it had been broadcasted on the news this morning, even though the boys were never mentioned.

Aizawa stated that we would be participating in a Hero Training Camp, well everyone who passed the exams anyway. We got changed into our hero gear and headed to the practical exam location. Aizawa then announced our pairs and which heroes we would be fighting against.

I was up against Ectoplasm, partnered with Tokoyami. If I'm honest I think Tokoyami is a pretty cool guy, every once in a while he hangs out with us, mainly because he's good friends with Sero but most of the time he keeps to himself. Although I personally really like Tokoyami we haven't interacted much so we make an unusual pair. The exam began with Ectoplasm stating in a rather intimidating manner, that all the teachers are doing their best to crush the students. All of a sudden we're surrounded by clones. Tokoyami uses dark shadow to throw me on the platform above us. Before Ectoplasms clones reach him, I create a gateway enabling him to reach my level. Ectoplasm then commends our teamwork.

"Hmph, it's good to see you're taking this seriously and doing well so far young heroes." He states casually.

Ectoplasm then begins to pursue us in the upper floors of the building.

We both then found ourselves running through disorientating corridors until Ectoplasm creates more clones, cutting us off. I noticed Tokoyami struggling to keep the clones from attacking him at such a close range. So, I started to create a multitude of gateways encircling the current floor, guiding me amongst his clones. Whilst I brutally fighting through them, one by one. Looks like Rift Runner trained me well.

The whole class of 1A were watching us from a far.

"Wow they actually work really well together huh?" Kaminari states looking up at us in awe.

"Yeah it looks like Y/N is getting much stronger too, she a lot faster now." Kirishima replies back.

"Actually... I think she's always been that fast, she's just become more aware." Deku says shyly.

"What do you mean?" Ochako-chan asks.

"Well... She's always been able to teleport fast, but I think what she's really honed her skills on, is understanding her surroundings. For example, the gates she places aren't completely at random and Ectoplasm hasn't been able to land a single hit... I think it's her reflexes that have really improved." Deku states.

"Yeah, you're right." Kirishima says whilst I continue dodging Ectoplasms attacks.

Flashback

"Your reflexes appear to be lacking." Rift Runner states, his voice deep and strong.

His gaze reaches mine from beneath the curve of his cowboy hat, he had piercing bright blue eyes, the kind that resembled the oceans of Neptune.

"I know."

He was a strong hero, it was Day 2 of my Hero Studies and I was yet to know what his quirk even was. Nevertheless, he was fast and effective in attack without using any power, that's what made him so good to train with.

He wore a distinctive ensemble, enhanced by a black leather jacket and battered looking cowboy hat. Flickers of blonde hair can be seen from underneath, he was incredibly handsome.

"Where's Time Twister today?" I asked curiously.

"He's on an important mission, he'll be back pretty soon." Rift replies whilst taking drags of a cigarette in the corner of the room.

Getting up, he flicks the cigarette onto the floor and promptly extinguishes it by stepping on it. He then exhales a long deep breath of cloudy smoke.

"Okay. Let's get started."
