Once lunch and our last lesson was over, I arrived back at home room for the end of day dismissal, Aizawa asked the class to settle down in our seats, then proceeded to inform us of an up-coming event."I have a special announcement for you all...." The class went silent, the anticipation thick in the air of what he was going to say next, "Each year we hold a special U.A. Ball... In which you are all invited to attend,"
Excitement spread through the class immediately. My eyes widened with surprise as I glanced at Mina. Her glossy black eyes were sparkling as she listened to every word, hanging onto Aizawa's announcement. Aizawa continued with his usual gruff tone.
"As tradition for the U.A. Ball, you are all to ask someone to accompany you and partner up for the U.A. dance," Aizawa stated. The students around me began to glance around at each other, a sense of awkwardness settling in as they absorbed the news.
This could only mean that sooner or later, we would have to start finding people to go to the ball with. The idea made me nervous, the butterflies in my stomach already fluttering at the thought. "Choose wisely," Aizawa added. "This is a mandatory event. You can ask someone within your class or any members of the other classes within your year. Class dismissed."
The bell rang, signaling the end of the day. The students rushed out the door, buzzing with excitement and the newfound task of finding a dance partner.
As I gathered my things, I could hear the familiar footsteps of Todoroki behind me.
"Hey, Y/N."
I turned around quickly, surprised. "Todoroki-kun!"
"Are you looking forward to the U.A. Ball?" he asked, his tone even but curious.
"Yeah, actually! Although I'm kinda nervous about the whole..." My voice trailed off, the anxiety creeping in as I thought about finding a partner.
"Yeah, Deku seemed to be feeling nervous about that too," Todoroki stated casually, as though he read my mind, his demeanor calm and collected. Clearly, he wasn't feeling nervous about it at all.
"You got any ideas on who you'd like to go with, Todoroki-kun?" I asked, curious about his plans.
"Mm, yeah. I think so," he said softly, a hint of a small smile playing on his lips.
"Really? Already? Well, isn't she a lucky girl!" I teased, giving him a playful nudge. He chuckled in response, a rare but pleasant sound.
"You think so?"
"Of course! Any girl would be lucky to go with you," I replied earnestly. He smiled gently at my words, that princely smile that seemed to appear more often these days.
"Any ideas on who you'd like to accompany you?" he asked politely, shifting the focus back to me.
"Um... No idea," I mumbled, feeling a flush of embarrassment.
That's when my eyes locked with a different set, intense crimson irises staring me down with an expression I couldn't quite decipher.
"Hey loser, you going to the library?" Bakugou's gruff voice broke the moment, his attempt at casualness almost convincing.
"Hm? Oh, is everyone else going?" I asked, a bit startled.
"Yeah, Mina, Kiri, Denki. Don't think Jirou is though, she mentioned meeting up with Momo after school," Bakugou replied, his tone still rough but less aggressive than usual.
"Guess I could do with catching up on some homework, I'll come," I said, waving goodbye to Todoroki. I then fell into step beside Bakugou, heading towards the library.
