The following day at school things were different. I felt as though me and Bakugou had always shared a peculiar dynamic, one that set us apart from typical friendships.
But now, something changed. It felt like we had grown closer. Although, Bakugou's concept of friendship might differ from everybody else, beneath his hard exterior, I saw glimpses of a good guy.As I reflected on what occurred yesterday, a smile tugged at the corners of my lips. I couldn't help but replay the moment when Bakugou allowed me to hold him, a gesture that felt unexpectedly comforting and meaningful. In that instant, the barriers between us seemed to crumble, and I realized that our bond had shifted. We were more than whatever we were before, —we were friends. But my thoughts were interrupted by a memory. Mina's words played on my mind, her playful teasing that Bakugou and I were secretly dating... It momentarily made me pause. But it didn't matter, she could tease all she wanted, his friendship meant more to me than romantic gossip. I mean yes I thought he was attractive and yes sometimes I catch myself staring at him and I-
No. It's nothing. I think a lot of the guys in Class 1A are good looking. It didn't mean anything... Although I was curious about what he wanted to ask me. I then noticed familiar blonde spikey hair not too far ahead.
"Katsuki-Kun!!!!" I found myself calling in a melodic manner, catching up to him on our way to class.
"What you want?" He grunted.
"Heheh! Have you seen Kiri today? I didn't see him when I left this morning."
"Oh, we left early to get breakfast before class."
"That's so wholesome.." I whispered.
"Tsk. Shut up." He said moodily.
Quick. Now's the time to ask.
"Oh yeah Bakugou-"
"Y/N! Good morning!" Kirishima said whilst leaning against my shoulder.
Bakugou shot Kiri a deadly glance. Kirishima awkwardly smiled in return, then began to slowly etch away from me.
"Kirishima!!"
"Why the fuck is everyone in such a good mood today?" Bakugou huffed.
Me and Kirishima began to do a little dancey dance.
"You guys are fucking weird." Bakugou turned away, continuing to walk ahead to class.
"Well isn't he as moody as ever huh?" I smiled.
Kirishima looked at me, then back again at
Bakugou."Y/N, you really care about Bakugou don't you?"
I looked to Kirishima, it almost felt as though everything had begun to go into slow motion.
"W-well I.. Yeah. He's our friend." I said feeling shy.
"You know, I really didn't like how he used to treat you when you first started here, he always took things too far..."
Kirishima looked at me, as though he felt personally responsible for Bakugou's past actions.
"But I'm glad you guys were able to become friends!" He said with a big toothy grin.
"Yeah me too!" I smiled back.
The pair of us were still staring ahead at Bakugou. Sero and Kaminari came into view, and by the looks of it - were harassing him.
"Also.. Bakugou would hate if I told you this, but Aizawa never sent him to apologise to you yesterday."
"He didn't?"
"No. You weren't seriously injured or anything. I'm unsure of what the fight was about or how bad it was.. You guys both disappeared for a long time. But after you were taken to Recovery Girl's office.. Bakugou seemed really upset with himself." Kirishima stated.
"Oh- well.. I think he was mad at me." I said scratching my head.
"I'm also, the one person in class he hadn't sparred with yet, it was inevitable really."
Kirishima chuckled.
"Yeah a fight with Bakugou is unavoidable, especially once you become friends" Kirishima smiled.
"Oh yeah!! You guys fought against each other during the sports festival! I'm sad I missed out on that."
"There's always next year!"
"That's true!" I beamed.
We began to walk following the others from behind as we made our way to home room.
"I think... Bakugou is a good guy underneath it all."
"Yeah, he is."
"He's kinda your best friend huh?" I acknowledged.
"Damn right!" He said with a toothy grin.
"And he tells me everything." He winked at me, then ran ahead wrapping an arm around Bakugou's shoulder.
I felt my cheeks begin to go a little warm, a blush of embarrassment graced my face. I felt as though Kirishima was hinting at something.. But I was unsure of what it was.
Once we arrived, Aizawa asked the class to settle down in our seats, then proceeded to inform us about the next step toward our future. The Provisional License exam. Passing was essential, once I had my license, I would finally be one step closer to my dream.
As the day drew on, I was still unable to find a moment to ask Bakugou what he was going to ask me yesterday. Any moment we had alone was interrupted by our friends.
I sighed.
"Guess I'll never know." I thought out loud.
It sounded serious and important.. But Bakugou seemed to have forgotten already, maybe it wasn't as big of a deal as I'd thought. Presides, I had bigger things to think about. It was time to take my training seriously, I don't want to get left behind whilst the classmates around me only continued to get stronger. I'd have to give my all to this exam.
