(This one is so confusing but when i say AI like imagine when Katniss was showing Mags how to hunt in that training room in the hunger games: catching fire.. if u have no idea what i mean i'll link a video but its basically something like this)
Monarch Academy had decided to prepare the hero classes for another exam, preparing grounds for the students to fight in and generating teams for each student to work in.
As these Exams were only mid-terms they decided to let the exam be lighter this week, instead of completely randomising the teams they decided to place students in teams with people who's quirks complimented each others or students the teachers knew worked well together.
And also, instead of fighting pro heroes, they had a new idea. Monarch Academy was by far one of the richest schools in Vigilantis, meaning they had far more access and were able to provide laptops for each student and dorms and also regular new things to help their education.
It was a new idea, another hero academy in a neighbouring city had began using AI coded training robots for their students to train, coded with different tactics and techniques real villains use, having a memory foam coating over to avoid people hurting themselves on the robot. The raw thought sounded almost off-putting, many people finding the idea of fighting AI unsettling.
But the new AI had a 99.9% success rate, so Monarch Academy decided to assess the students on how well they could perform against the AI, and also the fact a few students were uncomfortable around the AI would help them adapt in unfamiliar situations when they got their licenses on graduation.
Artemis was one of those students who were completely uncomfortable with using technology and data to assess them and even fight against robots. What if they broke and seriously hurt someone? Not to mention he had grown up in an environment where his most contact with technology was seeing Miss Rose sneak on her phone when she was in her office, coming to Monarch Academy was his first experience with owning his own phone and TV.
Blake was a lot more comfortable, with her parents being pro heroes they had already told her about the upcoming AI, so she had expected Monarch Academy to introduce new technology to help them train. It helped that Artemis and Blake were in the same group, so Blake could make him more comfortable with the robot and Arty could make sure she didn't get too comfortable.
And also Shino and Jack happened to be in their group. It made sense, both Umbra and Blake took more of a leader role, so it would be interesting to see two very similar personalities try work together, and Shino and Artemis's quirks were polar opposite so often they were paired to both of their appreciation. And Avian had added Jack to the group as he had seen how Jack and Blake work together in the student council.
Each student was given a specific time to enter the dome, there they'd be given a random environment they'd have to fight in. Half an hour before their exam they were collected from whatever lesson or club they were in to get into their hero costumes. They had locker rooms to change in however Artemis normally just collected his costume from his locker and took it to the boys bathroom instead.
It was more awkward for him if anything, also having to active his quirk in front of everyone just made him conscious of himself, despite how much he trusted his friends he always knew deep down they were slightly awkward around Umbra.
"Arty?" Shino entered the bathroom, Artemis glancing over to Shino as he held the door open, his hero costume already on and mask clipped to his belt. Shino watched as his icy hair moved with his face, glancing at him before looking back at himself in the mirror as he fidgeted with the back of his suit. "Hi" he said, not coldly however not as welcome as Artemis's 'normal' voice however Shino wasn't fazed.
