True Happiness (rewrite version)

The first normal conversation

AN: This is after the last chapter. Hope you like it!

"Hi!"= Talking in English

Hi! = Narrator

Hi! = Flashback

Narrator pov. Continuing with Irene and Ai's group~

They were walking as Irene thought about something before asking, "Why?" 

Haibara stopped and turned to her with a raised eyebrow so she clarified, "You could've chosen to go with Mitsuhiko-kun but you chose to go with me instead. Why?"

Haibara stayed silent for a second before sighing, "Well, you have been trying to help more recently, and you got Kudo-kun to regain his memory. So I decided to give you a chance."

Irene slowly nodded, she figured as much.

 "Now, let's keep moving." Haibara added as she ended the conversation there and started to continue walking. Irene blinked but went to walk after her.

When they both heard rustling from the bushes on the side of the other fence and looked over as Haibara asked, "What was that sound just now?"

Irene replied, "It came from the other side of the second fence."

Haibara noticed the hole and said, "The fence is broken... Maybe he went through here to the other side." 

Irene said, "This is the hunting area. Also, Genta-kun shouldn't have gone in there." she looked around, "He's somewhere around here."

Haibara retorted, "You say shouldn't have. But how are you so sure another change didn't happen? I mean, I chose you as my partner instead of Tsuburaya-kun. That's already a change."

Irene blinked, that was a good point.

"Fine. But it'll be really dangerous. So, try to stay as close to me as you're comfortable with." Irene ended up saying and Haibara nodded.

So they both crawled through the hole in the fence one at a time before they heard something in the bushes.

They both stood as they waited for the figure to come out, only for it to turn out to be a bear cub.

Haibara approached it with a smile and said, "Looks like it's not even a year old."

Irene walked over, well this part didn't change...

And then the gunshot sounded and Haibara immediately said, "Could a hunter have shot this cub's mother?!" in shock.

The cub let out a slight sound before running over to the source of the sound and Haibara went after it while calling out for it, Irene followed to stop Haibara from going too far.

And then another gunshot, the bullet hit a tree right next to them this time, and the girls looked over to see the hunter.

They both also noticed where the cub went and started to try and follow it but Haibara gasped and paused as she saw the corpse, Irene looked over and dropped her badge somewhere close before she took Haibara's hand and they both started running.

It was a bit short. But for once, they had somewhat of a normal conversation.

The first normal one so far.

AN: Done! Hope you guys liked it! 

Well, so they both still end up in the hunting area only because the possibility that Genta did end up in there this time could've happened.

Though Ai was wrong there, but now it's too late.

And they finally had a normal conversation together. Even though it was short.
