(7) A call, a visit, and a thought

Narrator pov. Continuing~

Meanwhile, back at Kuroba's, Irene got a call from Jii which she answered despite it being late, "Moshi Moshi Jii-san? What do you need?"

Jii replied, "Forgive me for calling this late, Sakura-Ojosama. But Agasa-Hakase just called to tell me to pass you a message."

Irene said, "He wants to tell me to come with the detective boys to Beika Central Hospital to visit Mouri-san who lost her memory, right?"

Jii seemed to pause, which she knew wasn't in surprise at her knowing that since he knew about her knowledge, and considering the bad feeling she had earlier...

"... Jii-san. What was the message?" She ended up asking, now a little concerned.

Jii seemed to take a breath before answering, "He indeed said to come with him and the detective boys to Beika Central Hospital to visit a patient who got amnesia... Edogawa Conan."

Irene paused, blinking, "... Kudo-kun?" 'What? How...? I didn't even do anything...' She took a deep breath and sighed, "I see. Thank you for telling me Jii-san. I'll make sure to come. Ja, Oyasumi." she politely waited for him to say it back before hanging up.

The next day, Irene left the Kuroba house early morning, leaving Kuroba a note that said to just ask Jii where she was, as she went to the station and then met up with the others at Agasa's.

"Hakase," she called as she looked up at him, she was sitting in the backseat of the car with the other detective boys, and Haibara was the one sitting in the passenger seat.

Agasa looked back at her through the rearview mirror so she continued, "Edogawa-kun getting memory loss... It really is unexpected, don't you think?" she saw how he seemed to get her hidden message as his eyes widened.

"This wasn't supposed to happen."

The kids who were oblivious agreed with her apparent question before Agasa seemed to relax again and replied, "Yeah, it is." with a nod that indicated that he got the hint.

That was all she needed as she leaned back against her seat.

The car arrived at the hospital and the moment the car was parked, everyone got out as they all went to find the patient they were visiting.

They were now in the hospital garden, Edogawa was sitting on a bench as they stood in front of him and Ayumi started the introductions, "My name is Yoshida Ayumi. This is Kojima Genta-kun, Tsuburaya Mitsuhiko-kun, Haibara Ai-san, and Midorikawa Irene-chan."

Genta and Mitsuhiko grinned when they were introduced while Haibara nodded, trying to hide her worry, and Irene nodded while giving a small wave before Ayumi continued, "We're your friends. And we came because we're worried about you, Conan-kun."

Edogawa smiled at them slightly and replied, "Arigato, but sorry. I don't remember any of you." Irene sighed, this was what she expected, though she didn't like it.

Mitsuhiko exclaimed, "No way! I can't believe it!" Genta added, "We used to play and hang out together all the time!"

Irene looked up at Agasa as he spoke, "Do you not remember me either, Agasa Hiroshi?" Edogawa looked up at him and he continued, "See, I live beside the detective, Kudo Shinichi-kun. I'm the genius scientist and your distant relative."

Irene, Haibara, and Agasa all mentally knew that it would be better not to tell Edogawa his true identity, otherwise the confusion and unbelievable information would get him stressed and prevent recovery.

Although, the mentioned three did look at his face for at least a reaction to the name, but nothing, he just blinked before he replied, "I'm sorry but no I don't remember you."

Agasa deflated a little in disappointment while the two girls sighed quietly, Irene did half expect this though, considering that she knew Edogawa must've got hit on the head to get memory loss which took more than one familiar name or face for the memories to resurface.

She immediately looked over once she heard Haibara gasp and do the same, both of them looking at the tree that Irene knew someone was spying on them from behind.

Right, there was the problem with him being targeted, if everything else still happened later, including the incident with the train...

Irene wasn't sure if anyone would save him in time, and she didn't want to just stay at the agency to watch over him either as she was more than comfortable with Kuroba.

She started thinking, getting an idea, 'What if I...?'

So Irene finally knows about what happened thanks to Agasa, and she obviously doesn't expect it.

She seems to have an idea that might change things more though. Wonder what it is?~ :3
