Narrator pov. At the haunted mansion~

The kids were now saying what they brought before it was the duo's turn.

Irene simply said, "I brought my medical kit in case we got injured in there." Then they asked Edogawa who at first looked nervous before he pointed at his head and said, "I brought my brain." While apparently thinking he sounded cool.

Silence as crows sounded in the background and, thanks to anime logic, Irene could hear them say "Lame... lame..." over and over.

She tilted her head as the kids had deadpan looks and Genta said, "What's that gonna do?" Edogawa's annoyed look just made her confused.

Did he really expect the kids to understand?

(Pfft- Sorry Conan-kun, but that was pretty lame XD)

Anyway, after that, they followed Genta to the secret entrance and got inside, though Irene had to pull Edogawa over since he zoned out in thought.

They found the washroom and Ayumi cleaned herself up.

After that, when Genta mentioned that this felt like a role-playing game, Ayumi surprised Irene with the role she gave her when she said, "I'm the cute female warrior and Irene-chan's the pretty fairy!"

She let out an "Eh?" as she could understand that enough and looked at Ayumi's proud smile with a tilt of her head.

She heard Edogawa scoff quietly from beside her but didn't really care.

After the whole thing with the boys getting captured, Irene finally got a chance to enter the basement when she followed the mother into the door and then went to the room with the cage, the mother going to a different room downstairs.

The mother ended up going back up a second later, probably to get the food from the kitchen, and then there was Ayumi's scream.

Normally, Irene would have stopped it but she knew that the mother would just drug them and leave them outside so it would be fine.

She went over to the cage and the son, Akio, looked up at her.

She gave him an emotionless nod before she said, "I may not know who you are... But I can tell you won't hurt me but you need someone to talk to. I'm hoping I can be that someone." She sat down after that in front of the cage.

Akio blinked before he realized what she meant, "You... You want to listen to me? Even with how I look?" she nodded again. His accent was thick, but at least he speaks English as she expected.
