Narrator pov. The next day at school~

Just like Irene said, she was all better and could come to school today with Edogawa who stayed home yesterday to take care of her.

When they got in the class, their friends immediately greeted them, asking how Irene was feeling now and she answered that she was all better.

Irene noticed Haibara giving her a look as if wanting to say something to her, with how she glanced at Edogawa, it was obvious it was about his situation.

Other than that, the school day went on as normal, well as normal as it got with Edogawa having amnesia anyway.

Irene sat next to Ayumi like usual who asked the now usual question of, "Anything new?" which Irene had to shake her head at again in answer, disappointing her friend.

She felt a stare from behind and looked to see that it was Haibara, who had her eyes narrowed.

And it was during lunch that Haibara took the chance.

She gestured her with her eyes to follow as she stood up and said, "I'm going to the bathroom for a minute." and walked out of the classroom.

Irene, taking the hint, stood up as well and said, "I need to go too guys, give me a minute." then she followed outside.

Both of them made sure to walk out calmly so the kids wouldn't suspect anything, and Irene took five minutes to make sure before following.

She saw Haibara waiting for her in a part of the hallway that was empty by this time and walked over.

Irene asked, "So what did you need?" curiously, though she did have an idea.

Haibara bluntly asked, "Do you know a way that might speed up the process of him recovering his memories?" her eyes narrowed as if daring her to lie, not that she would try that.

Irene nodded slowly, "Well, yes. But it's dangerous and this way is safer."

Haibara crossed her arms, "But it's faster."

Irene nodded, "But I'm not sure if it will really work, as I said before, Kudo-kun wasn't supposed to be the one to-"

"Lose his memories, yes I know." Haibara interrupted, "And it's obvious that this only happened because you're here."

Irene blinked, though she didn't argue, she knew it was true.

"The butterfly effect, I'm pretty sure you know it. This happened as a mere effect of you just existing and inserting yourself in this world." Haibara said coldly, "So if you know a way to speed this up, you should try it."

Irene opened her mouth to say something but Haibara cut her off, "And it doesn't matter if it's safe or not, at this point, since you don't want to just name the culprit to get yourself attention and suspected, Kudo-kun will just keep being targetted and the culprit would go free."

Haibara then glared at her, "You already did some damage, so stop your wishful thinking and try to fix it if you know a way."

Irene paused.

'Wishful thinking? Is that it? Well... I know Kudo-kun's luck...' she thought to herself.

But she just wanted to keep him safe...

She took a deep breath before looking back at Haibara, who was still glaring, and finally replied, "Alright."

Haibara blinked as Irene added, "There's still a chance it wouldn't work, but it is faster, so I guess I'll do it. Can you help with keeping him safe while it happens at least?"

Haibara stared before nodding, "Of course. As long as you do your part."

Irene nodded as Haibara then walked back to class, signaling the end of the conversation.

Irene waited a bit before following her, both of them acting normal as if they didn't have a serious talk just a second ago around their friends while eating.

She didn't really like it, but she knew Haibara had a point.

Kudo, Edogawa, whichever, has the worst luck, but he always got some small form of good luck from it.

An example would be his shrinking, he should've died, but he didn't.

So trying to defy that by keeping him safe when she knew she could try the same thing that would make Mouri regain her memory...

It obviously would be delaying and therefore worsening the situation.

Kyosuke might get even more time to get away if she kept stalling.

So, she would try it now, as much as she didn't like that it would put Edogawa in danger.

She also knew he wouldn't like the fact that he didn't solve the case, especially when he was a witness.

This was starting to look like a waste of time.

Just like Haibara said, this was her fault, so she should be trying her best to fix it instead of thinking up alternate ways that were obviously taking too long to work.

No more wishful thinking.

AN: Done! Hope you guys liked it!

Well, Ai just blatantly blames Irene for this. (This will hurt more later oof-)

But she also helps Irene realize that safer might not be better in this situation.

And it looks like Irene is finally going to use her trump card, even though she would need Kyosuke for it to work.

Wonder if that will end up working or not though. >v>

So what did you guys think? Did you like it? Looking forward to the next part? Hope to see your feedback soon!

That's all. See you next chapter!

Stay sweet my fellow anime lovers!~
