(26) Calm before the storm

Narrator pov. Continuing~

Irene looked over once she saw Takagi approach Kogoro and whisper to him, his face made it obvious he wanted to go to the toilet, and Kogoro allowed it so Takagi ran off.

The moment he did, the mascot who Irene knew was Tomonari Makoto in disguise noticed and let go of the balloons he was holding as he went to their bench.

He got close enough that he was over Edogawa and that was when Mouri noticed and exclaimed, "Conan-kun, look out!"

The mascot was surprised and ran off, Mouri immediately followed as she looked mad, "You won't get away!" 

Since Mouri could actually keep up with her older body better than the kids, it didn't take her long to grab the mascot and knock him down, keeping him in a tight hold as Kogoro ran over and took the mask off to reveal Tomonari.

Kogoro searched the pouch of the costume and found a knife which made Tomonari more suspicious and Takagi, who just arrived then, immediately handcuffed Tomonari who kept trying to defend himself but no one was listening.

Takagi announced how he would take Tomonari with him to the station and Kogoro said that he was coming too.

He walked over to the rest of the group and looked down at Edogawa as he said, "You don't have to worry about being attacked anymore." he crouched down and ruffled Edogawa's head, "And it's better for me not to stick around as you get your memories here."

Irene knew that the danger wasn't gone and she noticed that Edogawa seemed to not feel that reassured either but he nodded and replied, "O... Okay... O-O-Ojisan..."

Kogoro reassured him that it was fine that he couldn't call him that yet, and to just call him when he remembered everything before he stood back up and walked to Mouri.

He said, "Good job, Ran. You kept Conan safe and arrested the culprit. As a reward, enjoy your time here for the day."

Mouri smiled and nodded as she hugged him before he walked to Takagi and they left with Tomonari. 

After that, they decided to go on some more rides for the rest of the day and see if any of them would help trigger Edogawa's memory.

When night hit and they were watching the parade, Irene started to look around, not noticing that Haibara noticed and so she did the same, and when she saw the barrel of the gun behind them...

"Look out!" that came from Haibara as she pushed Edogawa out of the way of the bullet but Irene pulled her even further so she wouldn't get injured.

No more surprises on her watch.

Agasa exclaimed, "Ai-kun!" in worry before sighing in relief as Irene pulled Haibara away before she got any scratch from the bullet.

Agasa was going to say how it was better to stay together so the culprit wouldn't get Edogawa but Irene had already taken the amnesiac by the hand and started running away from the group, making sure to run inside the crowd of people nearby so the culprit couldn't shoot.

AN: Done! Hope you guys liked it!

Well, Tomonari still got arrested, but hey at least he still has his voice and they would listen to him once they're at the station.

Irene made sure that Ai didn't get hurt when she protected Conan, now isn't that sweet?

And now the action is starting, this is almost ending now.
