The double-ganger idea

AN: This is after the last chapter. Hope you enjoy it!

Narrator pov. The next day~

On day nine, Irene as usual visited while bringing flowers and a new card, along with another book to read.

Edogawa was already waiting this time and he smiled as he saw her come in, greeting her with a wave, "Hey."

She waved back, "Hey." before handing him the card and books and then replacing the flowers on the vase.

However, instead of sitting down to read with him, she sat down, took out an in-progress sketch, and continued to work on it.

Edogawa noticed and blinked in surprise, "Are you... drawing?" 

She paused drawing to look up at him, nodded, and, understanding his surprise, explained, "Just like how it looks like I have slight signs of emotion now, I started getting my interest in drawing back. And I decided to draw something for your school's play. I have an idea."

Edogawa tilted his head in curiosity, "For the play? What's the idea?"

Irene looked back and continued to draw while she simply answered, "The kiss scene."

Edogawa froze.

And thought 'Wait huh...?'

"You're... drawing that?" he asked, sounding in disbelief.

Irene nodded and, while giving him a glance, said, "I'm not thinking of the knight as Araide-sensei, baka. Even if I know what he looks like, I have someone else in mind for the knight."

He seemed to relax, but only a bit, and nodded, "Oh okay... Who?"

Irene looked back down at the drawing and just said, "You'll see soon."

He accepted that and went back to reading, deciphering the code too.

While drawing though, she had an idea.

"Ah, by the way, about the Mouri-san situation?" Irene started which got him to look at her.

"I know someone who can disguise and be Kudo-kun for a few days for you." she suggested before adding, "You can think about it, I would have to ask the person first anyway."

Not that she completely expected Kuroba to say no, but he would have a good reason to refuse at the same time.

Edogawa nodded, "Ah, alright." he smiled, "Thanks for trying to help. Even though you did plenty by visiting me every day when no one else does. Bringing me books and stuff."

He then looked at the flowers and added, "And bringing flowers. I'm the boy here you know." he said that last part jokingly with a small grin.

Irene let out a little smile at the joke and replied, "Yeah, well, it's this kind of thinking that lets men think they're underappreciated. And who says boys can't get flowers? Any sick person gets flowers and you're sick."

Edogawa blinked before he laughed, "I think you're the first to think that."

Irene shrugged and added, "But, you're welcome, for both that and everything else you thanked me for."

She continued to draw, "That's what friends are for."

He nodded with a smile as he went back to silently reading.

Time skip to when she leaves back to the Kuroba house~

"Tadaima," she said as she took off her shoes.

"Okaeri." Kuroba returned the greeting from the living room.

She walked over to him and said, "I need your help with something."

He looked at her as she sat down and asked, "What is it?"

She then explained the situation with Edogawa and Mouri before saying, "I thought maybe you can help by disguising as him for at least the festival and the play while he's still Edogawa so Mouri won't have a reason to suspect him."

Kuroba blinked before sighing, "Well since it's during a holiday, I can do that but there's Aoko..."

Irene said, "We'll think of an excuse for that. Thanks." 

He nodded with a smile, "No problem."

Irene knew how Kuroba already looked almost identical to Kudo, so identical that Mouri herself thought he was Kudo without the disguise at all when seeing him from afar, and wouldn't need a voice changer at all, so with his agreeing, this should go well.

The double-ganger idea should work out.

Well, I think we can all imagine who Irene is drawing as the knight there, at least in here it hurts less.

But He~eh? She seems to have a good idea of how Conan can solve the Ran situation.

Honestly, the fact that this could work out better than the idea of taking Aptx and letting Conan be someone else kind of says something.

And like always, Kaito obviously would be okay with helping Irene out.
