Narrator pov. Continuing~
In the audience, Irene blinked as she noticed Toyama sitting beside somebody familiar, Kogoro's reaction proved her thoughts as he grumbled, "Of course, the Osaka brat came too."
Hattori was here, not in a poor disguise of Kudo with a blue cap on, but as himself.
Irene went ahead and sat beside 'Edogawa' as Kogoro took the other side.
Well, that's an interesting change.
Then again, Hattori did visit before Haibara so...
'Kudo-kun must've still told him that there was a way... Though I'd guess he didn't tell him what it was so he would still be shocked later.' she thought to herself in realization.
She didn't know why, but knowing that Kudo never forgot about her idea until Haibara came with the pill at night made her face warm a little but she shook her head.
Not the time.
The lights turned off as the play was starting and the curtains opened to reveal Mouri in the same princess outfit Irene drew her in, standing in a tower as she started saying her lines.
Kogoro shouted out to her before he told everyone in the audience that that was his daughter which made them laugh and Toyama was embarrassed, Hattori too since he suddenly looked annoyed.
Irene could hear Toyama whisper to Hattori how she didn't like the seat since this was embarrassing and Hattori mumbled back, "I don't like it either." with his eyebrow twitching.
He probably regretted agreeing to come.
Irene, having been at the agency long enough for it to be easy to do, mostly ignored Kogoro as she focused on the play.
The play went on as the princess's carriage was being ridden by guards walking beside it before some group jumped in front of it and took out their swords.
The guards and attackers said their lines while the attackers explained their objective and then one attacker swung his sword and 'knocked out' the two guards by the carriage door.
When another attacker pulled the princess and 'forced' her out of the carriage, it was Toyama's turn to be embarrassing as she got too excited and stood up while calling out for Mouri to use her karate, forgetting that this was a play.
She was loud enough to startle others around her and Hattori looked even more embarrassed as he mumbled, "Aho, don't shout!" while looking annoyed as he pulled her to sit back down and reminded her, "This is a play. 'Course she ain't gonna use her karate!" quietly.
Irene still got herself to ignore her and focus on the play.
Black feathers started raining down on the stage and the attackers started getting scared before the knight came down and 'slashed' one of the attackers down and the attacker that was holding 'Heart', the princess, recognized the knight.
Toyama called him cool which made Hattori look annoyed and mumbled how he didn't see it, obviously getting jealous.
'It's a play, Hattori-kun...' she thought to herself but decided not to say anything, she didn't really want to associate with Hattori yet, instead, she just continued watching the play.
The attackers decided to retreat and did. When all of them were gone, 'Heart' asked the knight his identity, who didn't say anything and just looked away.
Irene was sure they made eye contact despite his mask and she felt her heart skip a beat before they both looked away.
The knight glanced back at 'Heart' and walked closer after she said her line before holding her arms which made her surprised as he pulled her toward him.
Kogoro was shocked but Toyama and Hattori thought it was part of the play as Toyama complimented Mouri on what she thought was acting.
Irene continued to watch, though for some reason, the scene that she knew was coming made her feel... well, slightly wrong.
Kogoro got mad as he didn't like how the knight was holding like that when she was at a marriageable age, he stood up and said he'd get the knight for this.
Toyama and Hattori stood up and held him back by both arms as they told him that he couldn't interfere as it was the good part.
Mouri got the signal from Suzuki to just go with it and keep it going despite the sudden change, so 'Heart' backed away from the hug and asked if the knight was her childhood friend who was banned from the kingdom by her father.
And then she asked him to prove that he didn't forget their promise through those lips which made Kogoro panic more as he kept trying to get out of the Osaka teens' hold.
Irene ignored them and focused on the play still.
But... Was it her or did it look like the knight was purposefully stalling for time? He was going slower than needed for that kiss...
'Kudo-kun...?' she thought in confusion.
Before their lips were close enough, the expected scream happened which made Mouri stop in her tracks in surprise as everyone in the audience looked to where it came from.
Only to see a body.
Well, guess this proved what Kudo thought at the same time, albeit by a bit.
Some things can't be changed, but some smaller things can.
AN: Done! I hope you guys liked it!
Well, looks like Heiji isn't going to give us second hand embarrassment since Conan already told him that there was a way to deal with the problem, but not what it was.
That's a relief. Right?
So what did you guys think? Did you like it? Which part was your favorite? Hope to see your feedback soon!
That's all. See you next chapter!
Stay sweet my fellow anime lovers!~
