Cas walked into the bunker, his footsteps echoing loud enough on the metal staircase that his presence was made aware to the little girl hiding within the bunker.
He heard a small squeal of joy rang in his ears causing him to grin. Seconds later a blur made its way towards him rapidly. It him without slowing down causing him to groan slightly from impact.
"Dadddyy!" The excited voice of his 5 year old squealed causing his grin to get wider. He loved how no matter how old she got his daughter always greeted him the same way.
"Hey sweetheart" He whispered wrapping his arms around her tightly. "Were you good for uncle Sam and uncle Dean?"
The little girl nodded eagerly "I even helped make dinner!"
"Did you?" He asked "What did you make"
"Pasgetti!" The little girl said letting go of her dad so that she could pull him towards the kitchen, Cas laughing at his daughters mispronunciation of the word.
-
Cas laid his daughter down in her bed despite her constant protests. She glared at him with her short arms crossed as he brought the blanket up just below her chin and made sure her favorite stuffed elephant was close by.
"Goodnight sweetheart" he whispered pressing a short kiss to her forehead.
"I'm not tired!" She exclaimed as she unsuccessfully fought back a yawn.
"Is that so?" Cas questioned with a small smile on his face as the litter girl shook her head "Is there anything I can do to change your mind?"
The little girl pretended to think about it before exclaiming "story" and pulling Cas into the bed next to her.
Cas chuckled but allowed her to lay her head on his chest. "Ok what do you want to hear about."
"Tell me about mommy." She answered sleepily.
"Let's see" Cas took a deep breath "Mommy she was...smart, and beautiful, and kind" He began answering vaguely.
"That's not a story!" The little girl immediately interrupted turning around so that she faced him "I want a story"
The corners of Cas' mouth twitched upwards slightly "Ok, a story." He took a deep breath before starting "I first saw your mommy when uncle Sam, uncle Dean and I were-uh-working..."
-
You were sitting on a bench in your local park, your large Siberian husky attached to his leach was sitting at your feet as you read your book. You were so entranced in your book that you hardly paid any attention to the deep blue eyes that hadn't left your figure for several minutes, or so the owner of these eyes thought.
A hand lightly pushed his shoulder drawing Cas' attention from you to Dean. "Dude were you even listening to me."
"No" Cas answered frankly before turning his head slightly so that you were back in his field of vision.
Dean turned slightly so he could see what Cas was staring at, a grin growing on his face as he saw you, it only getting bigger when he saw your eyes dart in their direction before returning to your book. "Looks like you've been made buddy." He said before clapping Cas on his shoulder.
"Made?" Cas questioned but never got an answer for Dean was already walking away.
Out of the corner of your eye you saw the slightly taller man leave the man with the blue eyes alone giving you your chance. You took a deep breath, shut your book, and with a big surge of courage approached the man.
As you got nearer you saw his face pale and his pupils dilate slightly telling you everything you needed to know "Hi my names Y/N" you said as you held out your hand.
His eyes got larger as he looked down at your hand, hesitantly taking it in his own and shaking it briefly "Castiel" the name came out strangled, as if he had to force it up his throat causing you to smile.
"So forgive me for saying this but I saw you staring at me" Cas felt his heart stop all together at your words "and I have to say that I like you and based on how you look at me I think you like me too" Cas relaxed slightly upon realizing that you were not about to yell at him for staring yet his nerves were still on edge "So I was wondering if you wanted to do something tonight."
Cas opened his mouth yet found that he was unable to form words only causing him to panic further, now more than ever did he wish he would be able to fly again. However, he felt an arm sling around his shoulders causing him to sigh in relief. "He can do dinner at 7" He heard Dean's deep voice say.
You were a bit taken aback by the sudden appearance of the man but nevertheless agreed knowing it was unlikely you were to get an answer out of Castiel. "Great" You grinned pulling a pen out of your purse. You took Castiel's hand and wrote on it your phone number. "Here's my number just text me the location and I'll meet you there"
-
Cas smiled fondly at the memory as he lazily ran his fingers through his daughters hair. "What happened next daddy?" She questioned "Did you take mommy to dinner?"
"I did" Cas laughed "I was so nervous beforehand that I threw up."
The little girl erupted in giggles "Yeah your uncles made fun of me for that, but I was so nervous I had forgotten to make dinner reservations."
-
You stood outside of the restaurant barefooted having ditched your heels quickly when Cas had told you that it was an hour wait without reservations as he apologized profusely.
"Cas" You giggled "seriously it's fine."
Cas stared at you with wide eyes causing you to furrow your eyebrows in confusion before you realized what you had just said. "Sorry do you mind if I call you Cas?"
He simply shook his head and went back to his silent state as he stared at you causing you to sigh "Ok you need to lighten up" You muttered just loud enough for him to hear as you dragged him towards the nearest liquor store.
You had bought a case of beer and a bottle of nearly every type of liquor before heading out to the country, leading Cas into the middle of the empty field of daises.
You sat criss cross and handed Cas a bottle of vodka instructing him to drink. And thus the two of you spent the rest of the night drinking, laughing, stargazing, talking. You had learned so much about each other in one night that it felt as if you had known him for years.
-
Cas looked down and saw that the little girl's breathing had evened out. Her eyes were closed and she stirred no longer.
With a soft smile Cas began to slowly slide out from underneath her only to have her eyes shoot open at the slightest movement "No the story's not over yet!" She exclaimed "What about the wedding?"
Cas chuckled sitting back down "It was one of the happiest nights of my life." He admitted "I remember asking her yet I wasn't scared."
-
You laughed as Cas immediately as Cas began taking off his tie, you watching him from the passenger seat from his car.
"Do you really want to do that here?" You teased him knowing that the subject of sex still made him blush.
Your comment had the desired effect as you saw Cas' cheeks heat up as he shook his head "Lean forward" He instructed.
You furrowed your brows but did as he told. Cas also leaned forward, placing a short sweet kiss to your lips making you want more. He whispered a small "I love you" before tying the tie over your eyes.
"What are you doing?" You giggled "Is this where you tell me that you're really a psycho killer and now you're going to murder me?"
You could hear Cas' deep chuckle and it made you grin, you loved that sound. "No I have a surprise for you."
You nodded and sat silently not wanting to ruin the surprise.
Minutes later you felt the car stop. You heard Cas open and close his door but didn't dare move out of fear of tripping. You heard your door open and felt Cas seize your hands helping you stand up and walk a few feet, after that ,however, he swiftly picked you up bridal style making you squeal is surprise before erupting into laughter. "Where are we going?"
"It's a surprise" He answered with a soft smile on his lips as he led you out to the middle of the very field you had had your first date in.
Carefully Cas set you down and pulled off the blindfold. You looked around out of curiosity before letting your eyes find his again to see that he was holding out a small package.
You furrowed your eyebrows slightly but took the package, a small box crudely wrapped in newspaper and red string. You carefully peeled off the wrapping to reveal a small velvet box.
You smiled softly and looked up to Cas just in time to see him kneel onto one knee. You felt your jaw drop and you immediately brought a hand up to cover your mouth, the box still closed.
"So forgive me for saying this but I saw you staring at me," Cas recited the first words you had spoken to him. "and I have to say that I love you, and based on how you look at me I think you love me too" Cas continued causing your eyes to tear up as a giggle bubbled in the back of your throat. "So I was wondering if you would," He said as he took the box from your hands and opened it up taking out an absolutely stunning engagement ring "would marry me?"
You felt all of the air escape your lungs as you found that you were the one unable to form words this time. So instead you nodded choking out a small yes as a few tears fell from your eyes.
Cas' face erupted into a grin as he stood up and engulfed you into a hug, you wrapped your arms around him tightly only letting go enough so that you could attach your lips to his.
You felt the cold metal of the ring as Cas slipped it around your finger. You immediately broke off the kiss to look down at it, Cas' eyes never leaving your face.
"Cas it's beautiful" You breathed out.
"You're beautiful" He said without missing a beat.
-
The two were silent for a while before his daughter grew impatient "Where's mommy now?"
Cas' smile immediately dropped. His daughter, however, had noticed this change in emotion and looked at him with furrowed brows.
Cas immediately painted a small smile on his face "She's uh-"
-
You stood over the crib rocking it slightly as you watched your little girl sleep, committing every feature to memory.
You felt two strong arms wrap around your middle and a pair of lips connect with your cheek but not even that could bring a smile to your face.
"Hey" Cas' deep voice rang in your ears.
"Hey" You answered softly not looking up from your little girl.
"Hey," Cas spun you around to face him "What's wrong?"
You bit your lip and placed a hand on his arm. "Come here, I need to tell you something.
Cas looked puzzled but didn't question you as you pulled him outside on the deck.
You opened your mouth but struggled to find the words, not to mention get them out around the large lump in your throat, you felt a tear begin to make its way to the surface and struggled to push it back.
"Hey it's ok" Cas assured you putting his hands on your arms "you can tell me anything"
You nodded and took a deep breath "Cas, I have cancer"
Cas felt his heart stop beating in his chest, he opened his mouth but didn't even know what to say.
"Apparently they caught it too late" You continued, finding that the words came easier now that you had started "I only have a few weeks to live."
"No" Cas begged "No you have to have longer, I-I need more time"
"I'm sorry Cas." You whispered
"I just need my grace" He said whispering more to himself than you "Than I can heal you"
"We both know you can't" You said slowly "I'm too far gone."
"NO!" Cas shouted "YOU'RE NOT! You-You can't be" He felt tears leak from his eyes and you brought your hand up to wipe them away.
"Don't cry Cas" You whispered "You were the best thing that ever happened to me, you gave me the best nights of my life."
"No don't talk like that" He begged "please don't talk in the past. You-You-You can't leave me" He whispered as he sank to his knees, you sinking with him to engulf him in your arms.
"I love you Castile"
-
Cas felt the lump in his throat but swallowed it down. "She's-uh-visiting my dad" He said softly to his daughter who could never fully understand what this meant.
"Oh ok" She said "Will I ever get to meet your dad?"
Cas chuckled slightly as he quickly hugged her tightly pressing a long kiss to the top of her head "Hopefully no time soon" He whispered so softly he was unsure if she even heard him.
