Damon Salvator

WARNING!!! KITTENS

  "Do we have to do this?" groaned Damon just as we hopped out of the car, I slammed the passenger door and stared at him with my eyebrow raised. He had been complaining the entire way and it had certainly put me on edge, especially since today was supposed to one of the best days of our lives and he was ruining it by being a sod.

"What are you talking about of course we are doing this!" I replied, harshness in my tone to make my point clear. This very reason we were here today had been an ongoing debate between Damon and I for the past few weeks and it had seemed that I had won, considering we were already standing outside the location.

"But Y/N, babe all it's going to do is cause a massive mess and stink up the house" by now I had left Damon in the carpark and made my way to the curb. I spun around and smiled.

"Damon just come on, we're doing this and you never know maybe you might actually like the idea as soon as we get in there" I encouraged while Damon took my hand in his. He mumbled a short 'doubt it' before dragging me inside like the grumpy vampire he truly was.

We soon entered a busy reception area and much to Damon's disapproval all sorts of various animals and their owners surrounded us in the waiting chairs. Loud barks, chirps and meows echoed throughout the space making me smile. "Aren't they cute?" I asked and looked towards Damon.

"Adorable" he said, the sarcasm in his tone made me nudge him playfully, just as I did a pretty young lady approached us and from the name tag on her shirt I assumed she worked here.

"Can I help you guys?" she inquired.

"Ah yes- Olivia, we would like to adopt a kitten please." Damon huffed at the word causing the young girl to chuckle. She nodded and motioned for us to follow her into the backroom. I was beyond excited and I knew as soon a Damon held one of the fluff balls he would be too.

Every animal in every cage had caught my eye and I found myself having to to keep my eyes glued to the floor so I wouldn't get any other ideas. While Damon walked nonchalantly, not taking any notice of the barking puppies and wailing felines, I couldn't get enough of them.

"Here you are miss" said Olivia who stopped in front of a door, I gazed at her and then towards the door expecting something to be there, before I could question her motives she pushed it open and motioned for us to walk in. Without a second to lose I dragged Damon in behind me.

"Oh. My. Gosh!" I screamed and hugged Damon's arm tightly, "Look at them all!". There were dozens of tiny kittens in the small room, all different shapes, sizes and colours. I calmed myself so I wouldn't scare the helpless animals as I approached them.

"Maybe we should bring Stefan one, he loves animals" joked Damon causing me to turn around and glare at him, "It was joke love, you know ha ha", I ignored him and reached for a tiny black kitten that had caught my eye.

"If you'll excuse me, I must get back to the front desk. When you've found one you like please come to the front and we'll fill out the paperwork" she announced before leaving the room. I couldn't stop smiling and I couldn't believe we were actually here, I mentally praised myself for using sex against Damon to get to this point- it was a win-win situation.

"This is amazing" I whispered, not exactly sure who I was talking to but wanting to say something, I peered over at Damon to see a small smile had reached his lips while he gazed at the small fluff balls bouncing around the room. I knew he'd come around eventually to the idea, I mean afterall he came around to me.

"Found any you like?" he questioned snapping back to his old self and trying to sound bored with the whole idea of adopting our very own kitten, I grinned and nodded.

"This one" I spoke which captured his attention, he strolled towards me and smiled at the tiny kitten which was playing with my fingers. Before he could say anything I handed it to him and said I was going to go sign the adoption papers, he didn't say anything but I knew he couldn't agree more.

I eventually found Olivia and told her we had picked one and were ready to take her home, she was overjoyed and immediately got everything ready. After signing the papers and checking we had everything we began walking back to the room to retrieve both my babies.

"So, you're boyfriend?" she questioned checking to see if she had gotten our relationship status correct, I nodded for her to continue. "Is he excited?" I laughed abruptly.

"I think deep down he's excited in his own way but Damon isn't exactly an animal lover- I practically had to drag his down here to get this bundle of joy" I confessed, Olivia looked slightly taken back but didn't say anything as we reached the door. I half expected Damon to be on his phone or trying to get away from the small creatures however when the door was pushed open my eyes widened.

Damon was sitting cross-legged on the floor with the black kitten in his hands, he held her up to his face and was nuzzling her and kissing her head affectionately. "Oh my god" I whispered to myself trying not to disturb the two of them.

"You were saying?"
