Y/H = Your House

"His looking at you again"
I choked harshly on the mouthful of pumpkin juice I had been drinking; a noticeably pink blush colouring my cheeks as my eyes unconsciously flickered over towards the Hufflepuff table. I hurriedly lowered my gaze when my eyes locked with the most intense blue grey I had ever seen; the kind of colour that gentle thunderstorms created.
My friend, Amy giggled softly besides me as I focused on my plate, my heart beating rapidly against my ribcage. It was no secret that Cedric Diggory was one of the most attractive boys at Hogwarts, even less of a secret that almost every girl here had a crush on him. What I couldn't figure out though was why he was looking at me; nothing more than a quiet y/h girl and an average witch. I was nothing remarkable. Gathering my book bag I stood, looking back at Amy impatiently, waiting for her to finish off her breakfast so we could head to the first class of the day.
"Two more mouthfuls I swear" She mumbled through a full mouth, "You go and I'll catch up"
With a shake of my head I moved towards the end of the hall, making it just through the doors when I felt someone gently take hold of my elbow. Turning around I felt my breath hitch in my throat, my eyes scanning across the features in front of me.
Light coloured skin with the barest hint of red on his cheeks, light brown hair that fell partially across his forehead and those eyes. The very same eyes that never ceased to capture my attention, that were now only inches from my own.
"Ah...hi y/n" He said quietly, a small smile stretching across his pink lips.
"Cedric" I murmured in reply, shifting my weight awkwardly from one side to the other, "What's up?"
"I was wonder...wondering whether I might as...ask you something?"
My eyebrows furrowed together at his nervousness; it was very unlike him to stutter his sentences, most of the time giving off an air of confidence. However right now he was rubbing a hand along the back of his neck, opening and closing his mouth as though he was trying to think of something to say.
"Of course" I answered, "You can ask me anything"
"Well – "
"Okay I'm ready" Amy announced, her eyes widening when she saw the both of us standing together, "Did I miss something?"
"No not at all...I'll catch up with you later on y/n" Cedric said with a soft smile, walking away before I could say anything.
"What was that all about?" Amy asked, linking her arm through mine as we made our way down the corridor.
"I'm not sure, it was so weird" I replied, "His never acted so strange before"

During the first few lessons my mind was so consumed by the work that I forgot about what happened this morning with Cedric; that was however until lunch when I ran into him again. Literally.
"Merlin Cedric I'm so sorry, I wasn't watching where I was going and...I'm just sorry"
I covered my face with my hands for a second before bending down to pick up my books, unfortunately some of them had slid a couple of feet away.
"Its fine" He laughed, grabbing the book that had landed at his feet. "Really good actually because –"
"Y/n!"
I turned at the sound of my name, seeing Amy with a couple of our other friends walking towards us, all of them whispering together and looking straight at Cedric; who by this point was looking half annoyed and half uncomfortable.
"Are you ready for lunch?" Amy asked.
"Yeah sure...I'll meet you in there okay?"
She nodded her head lightly, continuing into the hall with the other girls, all of them beginning to whisper between each other again, peeking over their shoulders to look at us before they disappeared. My cheeks flamed with embarrassment for the second time in the last five minutes; I loved Amy truly, she had been my best friend since that first train ride, but sometimes she wasn't very discreet.
"I'm sorry Cedric, what were you saying?"
"Nothing, don't worry about it y/n. Here's your book"
Taking it out of his hands I was about to open my mouth and say something but he was already walking away, shoulders slumped forward slightly.
With a heavy sigh I walked through into the hall; dropping my book onto the table when I reached my seat.
"You have to tell us what you were talking about with Cedric!" Georgia demanded, grabbing my hand excitedly from across the table.
"Nothing at all" They all looked at me with frowns, "I'm serious, it's like he wants to tell me something but he always stops himself"
"Maybe his trying to tell you he likes you!" Amy squealed enthusiastically; a few students our table turning to stare at her worriedly.
"I don't think so Amy" I reasoned, shaking my head slightly. That would be just too good to be true.

Later that night I found myself sitting in front of the fireplace, my eyes drooping with every page I turned of my text book; the text becoming nothing more than a smudged blur. I knew that I should be going to bed soon, it was already eleven thirty, but I couldn't get Cedric's face out of my mind, the way he smiled sheepishly as he stuttered through his sentences earlier, the way his cheeks flushed, only making him that much more attractive to look at...
Thump!
I was startled back awake as my book landed on the ground, a few loose scraps of parchment falling from between the pages. With a loud groan I rolled over on the couch, picking up the book and placing it on the small table; I was just about to pick the rest up when a piece of parchment with my name across the top jumped out at me.
y/n,
I've been trying to ask you all day and well it hasn't really been working for me,
This was the only thing I could think of...
Meet me in the library at Midnight.
Cedric
The lump that had formed in my throat was making it hard to breathe, my pulse quickening. It was almost midnight now and the thought of sneaking out was exhilarating, even more so that I was sneaking out to see Cedric.
It took fifteen minutes to walk to the library from the common room, with only a few close dodges with the Professors; the drafty castle causing goose bumps to rise across my skin.
When I got there the library was bathed in darkness, the only light source coming from the moonlight, streaming in through the large windows, splaying across the carpet. Wrapping my arms around myself I walked further in, my eyes scanning the shelves around me; my mind wondering whether he was going to show up, whether this was just some silly joke and I was the fool.
"Y/n"
I whipped around at the voice, a small smile breaking out across my face as I saw him in front of me; his hair rumpled from him running his fingers through it, his cloudy eyes staring straight into mine.
"I thought maybe this was a joke" I admitted, my eyes tracing down his facial features, stopping at each dip or curve, admiring every inch.
"It's not a joke"
He moved towards me, stopping when our bodies were almost touching, his warm breath fanning over my face with the sweet smell of honey. I closed my eyes as he reached out with his hand, finger tips brushing softly across my cheek.
"What did you want to ask me?" I breathed, leaning unconsciously towards his touch.
"You don't know?" He replied.
As soon as the words left his mouth his lips were on mine, moving in sync with each other, the gentle pressure the most delicious feeling ever.
I grazed my teeth across his bottom lip, smiling into the kiss as I heard his quiet moan. I parted my lips slightly, loving the way his tongue slipped into my mouth easily, massaging my tongue against his, exploring my mouth thoroughly.
After we pulled apart I rested my head against the crook of his neck, my chest heaving. His arms wound around my body, pulling me flush against him.
"Ask me" I whispered after a moment, holding him tightly.
"Go to hogsmeade with me this weekend?"
"Yes" I answered, not quite believing all of this was happening, half sure that this was a dream that I was going to wake up from and thanking Merlin that I found that note.
