You sat lounging around the bunker when a knock came on the door. You and Sam looked up suspiciously but Dean quickly hopped up from his seat to answer it without even glancing your way. Sam looked at you, and you both groaned.
"No way," Sam said, "Is that her?"
"Yes." Dean said, going to answer the door for his new girlfriend.
"Ugh, why didn't you warn us?" You asked.
Dean crossed his arms, "Because last time you guys waited till I opened the door and had Cas zap you out of here. I looked like an idiot talking like you guys were still here. But now you're hanging out with her."
You and Sam laughed at the memory, but became serious as Dean began to climb the stairs. "There's still time! Cas! Cas, get down here quick we need you!"
You couldn't help him through your giggling until Dean was about to open the door and in a last ditch effort you yelled along, "Castiel!"
The flutter of wings came and the angel appeared next to you, "Y/n? Sam? What is it? Where is the trouble?"
Dean opened the door, loudly announcing that she had arrived, "Natalie! Hey, come on in. Sam and Y/n are here too."
You groaned but were still laughing from your and Sam's final effort to get out. Sam looked to Cas urgently, "Go! Nows your chance, he hasn't dragged you in yet."
You reached out for the angels coat and pulled him down onto the couch next to you. "Oh no you don't, if we have to suffer so do you."
Dean began to come down the stairs, "Cas, nice to see you came."
Natalie took a seat next to Dean on the couch, cuddling close to him. "I brought a movie for us to watch, babe. I was hoping it would be just us but... I guess this works too."
You rolled your eyes at Sam. "Which movie?"
"Haunted Hospital 4." She said, shivering at the name.
Cas narrowed his eyes at her reaction, "Are you ill?"
You laughed and Natalie got defensive, "It's scary."
Dean started the movie and turned off the lights before any more comments could be made. 15 minutes into the movie you looked over at Natalie and Dean, to see her practically in his lap. You nudged Sam and gestured in their direction, mocking Natalie's tight grip on Dean's shirt. He laughed quietly, trying to keep them from noticing. The movie was terrible. Of course starting out with a group of stupid kids deciding to stay the night in the abandoned hospital.
"I don't understand." Cas said, "I thought this was going to be scary."
You and Sam snickered and Dean shook his head. Natalie didn't take the comment quite as lightly. "It is scary. People died there and now they're haunting the place."
Cas grew quiet again from Natalies shut down and you felt bad for him. It wasn't his fault she was so rude. Suddenly a man jumped out and grabbed onto one of the girls legs. Natalie screamed as loud as she possibly could, which seemed unnecessary. You and Sam laughed louder than before.
"Grab the salt!" You yelled at the screaming characters.
"Salt and burn!" Sam added.
Natalie didn't know about your lives, but you knew she wouldn't know what you were
talking about. Which almost made your jokes even funnier.
"Where is your iron poker?" Cas added, uncertainty.
You and Sam turned to him in surprise and burst out laughing again. Cas smiled proudly until Natalie shushed you for the thousandth time. You glanced at Dean, who seemed to be holding back a smile.
The movie dragged on longer and longer, jump scares popping up left and right. The only way you were making it through was by playing a game with Sam where you tried to perfectly imitate Dean and Natalie without them noticing. Neither of you had really initiated it out loud, it just sort of happened, and both of you were trying your best not to burst out loud laughing. You peaked at Dean and Natalie again to make sure you were still mirroring them when you saw that Natalie had now found herself sitting on Dean's lap. Without thinking you plopped down on Sam's lap, stretching your legs out on the couch. He looked at you in surprise and seemed to have forgotten what you two were doing, but he glanced at his brother and finally made the connection. You suddenly felt self conscious about your actions and were about to move when he snaked his arms around your waist and smirked at you.
"Deany, I don't think I can watch." Natalie whined, burying her face in his shirt.
This time neither you or Sam could hold in the giggles that escaped your lips. Dean turned to you, prepared to shoot a glare in your direction when he noticed the position you were in. At first his expression was colored with confusion but he quickly caught on, narrowing his eyes at the two of you. "You guys look awfully cozy over there. Anything you want to tell me, Y/n?"
"Nothing you need to worry about, Deany." You answered, snickering.
"Sam?"
"Actually yeah," Sam replied earnestly. "I've been meaning to tell you, Dean, I'm desperately in love with Y/n. Our relationship may be based on random make out sessions and cheap movies, but it's perfect to me."
Cas furrowed his brow. "Your relationship sounds similar to Dean and Natalies."
You laughed and whispered to him, "That's the point Cas."
His face lit up with recognition and he turned his attention back to the movie that he seemed to be actually getting into.
Natalie turned her attention to you and Sam, "I'm glad you two finally got together. I've seen the way Y/n looks at you. I was wondering if you would ever notice, Sam."
The look she cast you left you sure that she knew exactly what she was doing. She couldn't have actually noticed anything between you and Sam though, right? You'd always made sure to never let on your feelings for Sam. It would only make things more complicated, and that was one thing the hunting life never had a demand for. Besides you weren't that crazy about him. At least that's what you told yourself.
"Of course you haven't." She went on. "Who would notice a girl like Y/n anyway?"
There was a brief silence as her words sunk but then you quickly jumped up and headed to your room, not even looking back. You hated giving her a reaction. You knew you shouldn't have let her know how much she'd gotten to you but it was hard to stay calm when someone put a spotlight on your biggest insecurity.
You shut the door to your room but then just stood there a moment, trying to keep yourself together. There it was. The reason you'd never done anything about your feelings for Sam. Validated by a total stranger, but also the one person to notice your crush on him in the first place.
A knock on the door startled you out of your thoughts.
"Y/n? Are you in there?" It was Sam and he was talking in a hushed voice, as if you were a wild animal that would get scared away.
You wondered if you kept quiet, he would leave.
The door opening behind you gave you a pretty obvious answer. Of course he wouldn't. This was Sam. Sweet, sensitive, always there for you Sam.
"Dean and Natalie are fighting. He's trying to break up with her but she's arguing with him about it... Can we talk?"
"I'm fine Sam, really. I'm just tired of listening to her crap." You sighed.
"Good." He said. "That you think it's crap, I mean. Because it is. I notice you. Tons of guys notice you. Every time we walk into a bar heads turn. It actually makes me kind of jealous."
He finished that last part with some nervous laughter and his hand rubbing the back of his neck.
"What?" You asked, finally turning to look at him.
"It's kind of hard not to notice you." He went on. "Like the way you laugh and the color of your eyes and how easy you are to talk to. I'm sorry, I'm kind of rambling here..."
You started to smile. "I think I like it when you ramble."
"Yeah? I guess what I'm trying to say is. I've noticed you. You're the only person I notice anymore and I'm always kind of hoping you'll notice me too."
"Sam Winchester." You grinned, taking his hands in yours. "You're impossible not to notice."
