Tony's POV:
(Y/N) was definitely the most beautiful girl my eyes had ever seen. She was not only gorgeous, but she was also very kind, nice, funny and smart (
she was a smart ass really, but that just was even more appealing for me
); her (Y/E/C) eyes were unique, and I could get lost there for hours and hours and her voice, oh lord her voice. Everything sounded better with that sweet voice of hers, even if she cursed a lot, whatever word came from her mouth was like a choir of angels. Actually, I love everything about her. She had only problem. Not really a big one, but a problem anyway. She was extremely oblivious. I had asked her out on several dates to which she accepted, but when the time came to go out she was like '
we had a date? Why didn't you tell me before!
' and excuses of the sort. I knew she didn't do it on purpose, as she had burnt a few meals for not looking at the oven or she often forgot about where she put her mobile, and for that matter she had to buy a new one every two or three months. I kept trying to take her out but she was a tough one not because she rejected me, at all; she was always eager to come with me but... She just forgot everything.
"Stark, you should be straight to (Y/N); you know she's the worst for hints. She's so clueless that I even doubt she's a girl. I mean, she does not have this sixth sense that most of us do" Natasha said to me one day at breakfast.
"I know; last week I sent her her favorite chocolates, with a note with my evidently awful handwriting... She went to thank Steve for it. Steve. S-T-E-V-E" I spelled his name with annoyance to let her know my anger.
"Were you guys talking about me?" Captain America said walking to the kitchen. He grabbed himself a cup of coffee and sat next to Natasha. "Early bird, Stark?"
"Kinda" I shrugged "(Y/N)'s keeping me up all night" I sighed in defeat.
"Well, I don't know if you've been told this before, but you should just tell her. Like, drag her to dinner or whatever. I'm sure she likes you too." He encouraged me.
Your POV:
You hated yourself for being so clueless about everything. Yes, you were a smart one, but what did you use that for? You knew how bad Tony felt for forgetting your dates together but you just couldn't help it. Your head was on the clouds all the time. You burned food or forgot your mental grocery list. You just forgot about everything and even if you made a physical note you lost the goddamn note. You had read tons of articles on how to remember things and not being so oblivious, but they just didn't work, and basically, you forgot about what they said.
"Nat, can you come to my room please?" You called her through the mobile. She arrived 3 minutes later to your bedroom.
"What is it, sweet cheeks?" She said closing the door "How is aunt Natie useful?"
"It's Tony..." You sighed "He's being so nice to me and I'm like... Ugh, like nothing!" You grabbed your head between your hands "He's always asking me out and I'm always saying yes, but my brain just forgets about it! I want to go out with him cause he's very nice, and funny and, oh god he's so cute! But my brain doesn't cooperate"
"But try harder! Keep your mobile with reminders, and, please, try to carry it with you all the time" She begged you "I know!" She snapped her fingers as something snapped inside her head "You should keep it in your bra!"
"Natasha, please" You rolled your eyes.
"I'm serious! That's the best place and it will vibrate whenever something comes up"
"Ugh, I don't know why I even called you!"
"Because you know I'm the best person to ask for an advice, and because you know I'm best friends with both of you" She pointed out with a wide smile.
Tony's POV:
It was the 4th of July and that only meant one thing. My ultimate move. What's better than having a barbeque outside with the friends, and well, having the money to put up a firework show only for her. Yes, a man in love will do anything for his loved one, and a rich man will do some crazy shit. I'm shooting to kill tonight, well, I hope not literally because that would be just sad, for me of course and for all the team because (Y/N) is just an amazing person and I just love her and no one would like to lose her.
We were all dressed in red, white and blue and (Y/N)'s dress was just out of the picture. She just topped everyone. It was in this 40's style dress and her hair was pulled up in several curls. Oh, she looked so beautiful... More beautiful than any other woman in the tower, and that's a lot to say considering how much I love women in general. No, (Y/N) had me under some spell and, boy, I was just happy to be this way.
At 9:30, we all gathered in the rooftop with our best outfits and the barbecue made by Steve, who surprisingly knew how to do them, was delicious and we all had the time of our lives. At 11, the others started to leave and I was left alone with (Y/N). She sat next to me on the couch I had outside and we cuddled together because the summer breeze was a little chilly. I had a remote on my pocket and when I pressed it, fireworks zoomed into the air and crashed, creating beautiful explosions of stars, hearts and everything. (Y/N) looked like a child in a candyshop. The last explosion said "I love you" and she decided to drop a bomb of her own.
"Look" She pointed at the sky "some idiot is telling its significant other that they love them. Little does that idiot that everyone in goddamn New York City is going to be confused by its love statement"
"Well... I hope you liked my love statement..." I muttered.
"Oh shit" She looked at me and apologized "Oh shit I'm so sorry... Tony I-"
"I know" I gave her a little smile and shrugged "But now you know..."
"Fuck, I fucked this up right?" She pursed her lips and I knew she felt awful about the whole thing.
"Don't feel bad sweetheart" I kissed her forehead "I mean, I know you're always on the clouds and your memory is quite fragile and that's basically the reason that we haven't had any date" I said with a little chuckle "but I just wanted you to know that I love you a lot, with your memory and everything. You are the most beautiful woman I have ever seen; you caught my eye right away" I took a deep breath before saying the big words that she laughed at in the first place "I love you, (Y/N). I love you a lot"
"Well, I love you too Tony, and I won't forget that" She cupped my face between her soft hands and leaned forward to kiss me.
Your POV:
Tony's love statement surely took you by surprise. You were so clueless that all his (probably evident) hints were just far away from your sight, so the least thing you could do was to cup his face between your hands and kiss him to show him that his feelings were corresponded.
His lips moved softly against yours, capturing your lower lip and then the upper. His hands rested on your waist and you decided to take it to another level. If he waited so long for having a reaction from you, it was only fair that you turned the kiss into something more passionate. You straddled on top of him and your hands played with the hair on his neck.
"I love you Stark, thank you for waiting for me" You thanked him while resting your head on his shoulder.
"There's one last thing left to say honey" Tony whispered into your ear "And that is if you want to be my girlfriend"
"Of course I do, and I promise I won't forget I am" You giggled and kissed his neck.
"And I will make sure you don't forget about it, ok?" He cupped your face now and leaned forward to give you a sweet kiss again.
