Laying on the sofa you sighed in content, rubbing you big belly. You could feel the life inside it, but sadly, it was yet to respond to your soothing touch.
"Look at you" You heard Dean say, sticking his head out the door and eyeing you "Getting cosy?"
"You bet I am" You smiled at him and he nodded.
Your eyes briefly scanned the bunker – well, it was no dream house, but it was enough if it meant spending more time with the baby's daddy which just so happened to be Dean Winchester. You had known him for nearly two years now, and only recently did you decide to get hitched and the wedding night gave you something to celebrate nine months later.
You had a grand hunter wedding – meaning that when you were saying your vows vampires that the Winchesters were tracking decided to crash the party. Luckily, keeping a shotgun under your puffy dress was a good idea after all.
He casually paced to you, setting his beer down on the coffee table and taking a seat on it. He intertwined his fingers, his intoxicating green irises first locking with yours, but the sliding down nervously to eye your tummy.
"Dean?" You called softly, knowing that look all too well.
Dean Winchester may have been a smart-ass, a bit aggressive and just plain heartless sometimes (You were still a bit on edge after the whole mark thing), but deep down in his heart he was just a little boy, worried about his brothers, yours, and now the most important little guy's in the world – your baby's – lives. You knew he was frightened by the prospect of being a father; he never voiced his concerns, but by now you knew him well enough and could read him like an open book.
"Yeah?" He replied, clearing his throat.
"You'll be a good father." You reassured, and for a moment you thought you saw his eyes gloss, before the snapped to the side, his jaw clenching.
He nodded, his head hung low as he sighed. Slowly lifting it back up, he leaned in, his irises fixed on your belly.
"Listen there, you" His tone was heavy, but not threatening "I may not know what it's like to be a dad, alright? And especially a good one...But what I do know is that I love your mommy" His green hues lifted up to you for a moment, his features softening "And I love you." He said to the baby "So no matter what happens..." His hand reached out to touch your tummy "I promise to protect and take care of you till I can't stand no more." He said firmly, and you could feel your eyes watering "You'll be born into this...This life, that you don't deserve or want, and as much as I wish I could take you both away from this I don't think that's possible. Your daddy's a hunter. Your beautiful mommy is a hunter" You cracked a smile at that "But I'll never force this path upon you. You have my word."
You sniffled, feeling overwhelmed with joy and sadness at the same time, a side effect from the raging hormones. You wanted to hug and smooch your husband, wrap him in a blanket and give him some hot coco for being such an angel.
Leaning in, Dean's lips softly kissed your belly when-
"Hey!" He snapped, returning to his seat and glaring at the baby and your laughing form.
At the exact time when Dean was about to give a smooch, the baby kicked him straight in the jaw.
Your maniacal laughter died down to frantic giggles. Biting the grin on your face you tried to calm down, but the look on Dean's face was just priceless.
"I-hooh- guess" You started, wiping tears from your eye "He-pff-he has the temper of his father."
The only response you got was Dean rolling his eyes.
