From the new Star Wars movie

Poe awoke early in the morning, dark hair mussed up, even darker eyes tired. His arm was tucked gently around the sleeping form next to him, their chest rising and falling in a rhythm. The dark and quiet were reigning the living quarters, filling him with a sense of tranquility. This room had been his home for as long as he had been a pilot in the Resistance. The bedsheets were still the same, the scent of oil and grease was still lingering from the first occupant, and the miscellaneous items scattered about on shelves were all familiar, making the space seem homely and lived in. The space, however, seemed so much more like home when you had permanently made it yours as well. It was always made his heart flutter when he fell asleep and woke up next to you.
As much as your body warmth and his want to stay put enticed him, the pilot needed to go. He was needed for a mission and he wanted to be gone before you woke up. Silently, he pressed a kiss to the back of your head and hugged you tighter before he forced himself out from underneath the warmth of his blankets. He took his time in collecting his clothes and uniform pieces, trying to prolong his leave, if just by a little bit. Standing in the doorway to the bathroom, he took in your features, letting his mind to imprint your face in its most peaceful state. He allowed himself a few minutes of it before he turned and tucked away into the shower, letting his worries and fear wash away down the drain with yesterday's burdens.
Poe stepped out of the shower not even 15 minutes later, drying off rather quickly. He figured you would be waking up soon and he needed to be gone soon. He stood, staring at himself in the mirror, taking in his own features; the small grease stains that wouldn't seem to come out, the tiny scars from an x-wing crash or two that weren't noticeable unless you got really close, and the bags under his eyes that were getting better and going away. He tore his gaze away from the mirror and started to dress himself, pulling every article of clothing on one at a time. Finally, he was dressed and ready to go, stepping out of the bathroom.
He stood at the door, making sure he had everything he needed before he left. As he marked off his checklist in his mind, there was a shifting of blankets and it made him freeze. He was supposed to be gone before you got up. There was a muffled yawn and some cracking of joints as you stretched.
"Poe?" you mumbled quietly, your voice drenched in sleepiness.
He squared his shoulders, heaved a deep breath, and turned around. "Hey, [name]."
Through tired eyes, you stared at his figure silhouetted against the door, his hair combed and his uniform immaculate. Even with the baggy pilot suit, you could see that he was tense. From months of experience from being his significant other, you knew that he had a habit of leaving for sketchy missions before you woke up.
"You're leaving without saying bye?" you questioned, swinging your legs over the bed.
Poe stayed in place, watching your movements carefully. "I- You looked content, I didn't want to mess up your sleep."
You shrugged a throw blanket around your shoulders, the cold air of the room biting at your skin, leaving goosebumps in the draft's wake. The soft sound of your bare feet hitting the hard floor of the bunker echoed as you approached Poe. He was only halfway lying; he'd leave you asleep if you looked peaceful.
"You were going to leave." Your voice was quiet and held a tinge hurt. "We've been together long enough that I know you always leave without saying goodbye and before I can wake up."
"[Name]-"
Poe was at a loss for words. You knew that he often left without so much as even a kiss on the forehead as you slept.
"It just worries me, ya know? I'd rather you wake me up and give me a kiss before you leave than leaving me without saying anything and a memory of the night before. I know you'll always come back, though. You might not come back in perfect condition, but you'll always come back because you're the best damn pilot the galaxy has ever seen and you're smart enough to not get yourself killed."
He's left with no time to respond before your arms are up and around his neck, pulling him down so you can hug him easier. He was taken aback, but instinctively, his arms were drawing themselves around your waist, his nose burying into your hair, inhaling the scent of oil and a flowery perfume. One hand moved from your waist to the back of your head, keeping you pressed against him as he allowed a few tears to softly land in your hair.
It took a few moments for Poe to drop his hand from your head, but his arms tightened themselves around your waist, keeping you anchored against him. Your own hands, which were tangled in his hair at the nape of his neck, move to his cheeks, wiping at the tear trails.
"I'm afraid, [name]. I'm afraid that I'll say bye and I won't come back," he said, voice cracking.
A ghost of a smile appeared on your lips, your thumbs continuing in their continuous sweep on his cheekbones. The familiar act calmed him down a little, as this was something you would do whenever he would cry. Gently, you pulled his face down to yours, pressing a kiss to his forehead.
"You always come back."
Poe let out a breathy laugh and pulled you closer to him again, feeling significantly better than he had a few minutes before.
"Thank you a lot, [name]," the pilot said, "I don't know what I'd ever do without you."
He leaned his head down, pressing a quick, chaste kiss to your mouth, his lips curled into a smile.
"You'd be lost without me," you replied, a smug look on your face.
Poe leaned down to kiss you again, but a loud banging sounded outside the door, earning a confused glance from him over his shoulder. "Dameron, hurry up! Mission briefing in ten!"
"On my way," he replied as he turned back to face you.
You just chuckled and kissed him once more. He leaned into the kiss as his hands fumbled with the door mechanism behind him. Eventually, the door slid open and he ducked out. He almost took off running backwards down the hallway.
You leaned against the doorframe, a goofy smile on your face. "Come back safe, Poe! I love you!"
"Love you, too!" he shouted as he turned and disappeared around a corner.
Your smile widened as you pulled back into the living space, closing the door behind you. He'd come back safe, not perfectly intact, but he'd come back
