"Bubba, please don't leave I want you to stay home with me today." Three year old (Y/N) Hale begged her older brother. She was going to be home with her uncle Peter and sister Cora but she only wanted Derek to stay with her.

"Little one I have to go to school, but I'll be back before you know it." Derek said to his baby sister. She had gotten sick and only liked when he took care of her. She always felt left out because she was a human growing up in a family of werewolves. "When I get home I'll stay with you for the night little one, I love you."

"Wove you too Der." She said giving her big brother a hug. Little did they know that there wasn't going to be a later to night.

Peter was putting (Y/N) to sleep when she remembered she left the bunny Derek had bought for her in the living room. She had refused to go to sleep without it. Peter went downstairs to try and find in but in the small amount of time he was gone her room had caught fire.

Kate Argent had decided to start with the one person Derek had cared about the most it would make it so much worse for him. She had already trapped the rest of the family in the basement and was getting ready for her team to light it. She could hear the screams of the little girl through the window the screams brought joy to her. Peter also heard the screams and tried to get to his little niece. The fire was too thick to get through even for a werewolf. He had to get out of the house.

Meanwhile at the school, Laura and Derek Hale where in class waiting to get home to their little sister. When they were called down to the office. Laura made it to the office first and saw a police officer standing waiting for them. As Derek walked in he saw the look of confusion on Laura's face. When the Officer spoke. "There has been an accident at your house. It had caught fire and there was only one survivor." That brought a look of horror on to their faces. Hoping in was little (Y/N) who had made it out of the fire alive. "The only survivor was Peter Hale. He had this in his hand when we got to the house." He said opening his had to reveal the stuffed bunny that had once belonged to little (Y/N). Leaving Derek to wonder what would have happened if only he stayed home.
