It was the marvelous year of 1997 when your boyfriend Ron finally managed to get himself on to the Quidditch team. You had a guilty feeling in the pit of your stomach that Ron had only got his position because Harry was now the captain of Gryffindor's team now that Oliver had graduated Hogwarts. You didn't want to feel that and you hoped it was because Harry saw potential but you couldn't help thinking to yourself that Ron wasn't all that good at the game. Nevertheless you encouraged him and supported him.
Eventually time passed and you were faced with Ron's first actual game. His place as the Keeper was crucial to whether the team prospered or failed miserably. It required a great deal of precision, quick-mindedness and power. Three things that Ron had never excelled in before. You couldn't help but feel relieved as you caught Harry pouring a small dose of Liquid Luck into Ron's drink before the game, you couldn't bear to see Ron disappointed when he had waited so long for this. You'd hoped Ron didn't notice Harry slipping the remedy into his drink and to your relief he didn't. That was until Luna decided to park herself next to Ron and say in her oh-so-soft voice "I would wish you luck Ron, but I saw Harry pour you some. Don't worry, your secret's safe with me." She smiled before standing up and walking away.
You prepared yourself for Ron to explode with anger at Harry but instead a smile grew wide on his pale face. "How you feeling, Ron?" Harry asked hesitantly, wondering what was going on. "I feel brilliant... amazing in fact. Come on, Harry. We have a game to win!" He said with a great ounce of enthusiasm which you'd never really heard from Ron before, leaving you looking at Hermione; both of you rather befuddled with confused looks on your faces.
The game was a landslide win for Gryffindor all thanks to the gusto of Ronald Weasley and you barely had time to congratulate him before the boys in the common room dragged him up on the table and started chanting at him."Weasley, Weasley, Weasley, Weasley!" You giggled as you watched him bask in the glory and adoration of his peers. "He did well today. Better than I expected." Harry said as he joined you, watching Ron from behind the mob. "Considering it was all him." He continued as he pulled his full vial of liquid luck from his pocket.
Before you could answer Harry you noticed a large group of girls who appeared to be love stricken as they stared up at you boyfriend, heart eyed. You couldn't help but wonder if this would change anything. Suddenly Ron had the attention of some of the prettiest girls in the school. Would he just leave you behind? You felt worthless next to them. You sighed as you decided to walk it off, leaving the common room and going to sit in a window where you would sit when you needed time to think. It had the perfect view over the lake and the way the moon glistening off of it upon a night would calm you down. You couldn't help but burst into tears; you weren't completely sure why but you just let it happen. That was until you heard a voice.
"Y/N?" You recognised the voice instantly. It was Ron. He couldn't see you cry, you quickly wiped your tears and gathered yourself before turning around to face him. "Yeah? Why aren't you in there celebrating?" You asked, wanting him to finally enjoy the popularity he had been waiting six years for. He didn't speak. He just walked towards and sit in the cove where the window sat. He faced you with his legs crossed as his just took in every feature of your face. "I know you. And you don't cry for no reason. You're also an awful actress and can never cover up when you do cry. So are you going to tell me what's wrong or do I have to force it out of you?" He asked, a small smile growing on his face.
"It's just... In there, all those girls staring at you. I mean, you're a handsome boy and you deserve the attention from those girls but you deserve those girls. Not me. They're pretty and tall and skinny and clever and funny... Everything I'm not. And I hate the fact that you're stuck with me when there are more and better choices out there." You sighed, feeling tears running down your cheeks as they burned red. You never really told Ron about your insecurities. "Wow. For someone so clever you can say some really stupid things." He chuckled, causing you to frown in confusion. "Well... Waterfalls are pretty aren't they?" He asked, earning a nod from you. "And flowers are pretty as well. Right?" He asked, earning another nod. "But do they look the same?" He smiled as you shook your head. "Exactly. A waterfall and a bird look completely different but they're both beautiful in their own ways. Just because you don't look like those girls doesn't mean you're not as beautiful to me. If anything you're more beautiful. You're everything to me and I don't want those girls... They're beautiful but they're not beautiful like you." He smiled and pulled you into a hug. "Now promise me I won't hear any more of that crap and that you'll come back in the common room and celebrate with me." He squeezed you tightly as you agreed to accompany him back to his friends.
