Things had changed for you once the particle accelerator activated. Needless to say, before it did, you had a boring life. Regular job, regular friends. Not many people say it, but getting struck by lightning was probably the greatest moment of your life.
Of course, it didn't feel that way at the time. At first, it was an inconvenience. Two months in a coma then your whole world gets turned upside down? You didn't want any part of it.
The awesomeness of it all kind of hit you when you saved someone anonymously. So you decided to learn to full extent of your powers by saving people. No one knew, but you knew it was for the best.
Your telepathy was a personal favorite. If you 'tuned in' to someone's mind, you could hear their thoughts without them knowing. The first day you woke up was tortuous. You didn't know how to ignore people's thoughts, so a lot of primary thoughts followed you around that day.
The healing was cool too. Any criminal couldn't understand how you kept getting back up. The lightning increased your endurance.
In an attempt to help people as yourself, you found yourself a new desk job at Central City Police Department. 7 months later, your crazy life got a bit more interesting.
"Has anyone seen my phone?" A random coworker called out. Focusing your mind, you found the location pretty easily.
"Check on the counter by the paperwork!" You responded. Echolocation was just a fancy word that you found when you were googling your superpowers which meant that you could sense where things are.
He found it exactly where you said it would be. "You're the best, Y/N!" You gave him a thumbs up.
Super senses came with the powers. You could hear footsteps coming. You instinctively turned to the door and saw someone you had never seen before, but Joe West looked like he was going to be okay. It might have been his foster son. He was in the hospital for a coma.
Joe stated, "Oh, you scared the hell out of us, kid. Yeah, that was quite the nap you take there, baby-face. And you still look twelve." You quickly smiled at that before returning to your work. The man was definitely attractive with his brown hair and eyes.
His eyes swept the room and landed on you. You looked down quickly, blushing. The temptation to see what he was thinking was strong, but you restrained yourself.
That night, you were leaving the office. You rubbed your eyes out of habit and said goodbye to the rest of the people.
Barry knew that with all of the things happening in his life, a woman shouldn't be on his mind. He couldn't help it. Something about you made him feel weird. He even asked Joe about you, who teased, "Oh, finally showing an interest in girls, are you?" He saw Barry's embarrassed expression and cut him some slack. "She's Y/N Y/L/N. Came in, looking for a desk job and had all the credentials. She's a good person."
So when he saw you walking down the street, he stopped his super running to talk to you. Gathering his courage, Barry simply said, "Hi."
Almost like you were expecting him, you instantly replied, "Hello." When you realized that you probably replied too quickly, you didn't continue.
"Uh, I saw you in the office," he awkwardly said, "I'm Barry Allen."
You smiled a little. "Y/N Y/L/N. Heard you just came out of quite the coma."
"Yeah," Barry agreed, "9 months. It's kind of weird." That was an understatement. "So, do you need some company?"
"I really don't need a hero," you stated, "Although, if you want to talk, sure." Barry tensed at the mention of hero, so you just read his mind. You smirked slightly. He was like you. "You seem like a runner," you said with the purpose of making Barry squirm.
His expression reminded you of a startled puppy. "Well, I wouldn't say that."
"Really? Because you seem like you'd be incredibly fast." Using your power, you communicated with your mind, "Hm, I wonder how she knows that."
"Are you like me?" He asked with an awed expression.
You communicated again, " You tell me. " Then you just spoke out loud, "Yes, I am, Barry Allen. I'm hoping you can be trusted."
He nodded eagerly. Finally, the pair of you arrived at your apartment. "This is my stop," you said, "Don't worry. Your secret is safe with me."
"Well, I hope to see you again," Barry tried to act cool.
You laughed. "Well, we do work at the same place." Seeing Barry's red face, you sent him, " Don't go and mess up that cute face. " Blushing slightly, you walked into the building. You looked back to see Barry smiling slightly. "Cool," you heard with your super senses.
"Cool, indeed," you agreed, even though he probably couldn't hear you.
