Natasha had set up the whole meeting and you had been nervous all day. You had tried to avoid everyone, because you didn't want to hear their opinion about this. Natasha had managed to convince every Avenger to come and to have a second meeting with you. She had told the truth, you wanted a start over and if this wouldn't work, you would have to find an other job. Obviously you felt a lot for the Avengers. You wanted to help, to use your powers for the best. But right now it had been really difficult to actually help out without going home with a bad feeling. It felt like everyone hated you and for now the feeling was mutual. The only one you had started to like was Natasha, she had actually tried to get to know you better after she had been assigned as your partner. She would be the one that would either help you with your career or this would be the end.
When it was time to meet up, you were incredibly nervous. Your stomach tightened and to be honest you found it hard to breath properly. Fortunately Natasha was there to lead the whole meeting. You didn't know what was going on right now, but it seemed like Natasha wanted to make this right. As if she wanted to help you. She had spend the whole day with you, trying to calm your nerves and to tell you that things were going to be alright.
You cleared your throat once you walked inside. You could feel the blood rush to your face when you noticed everyone. You avoided eye contact. If this wouldn't work, you would quit. You didn't want to go through this without getting a result. Natasha was behind of you, her hand was lightly touching your shoulder while she guided you towards of a chair. To make matters worse, that chair was at the head of the table. It almost felt like you had to sit in a huge spotlight. Nobody said a word and when you were seated, Natasha was the first one to speak. Fortunately. "I'm glad everyone could make it. You all know why you are here. We're going to talk about (Y/N)'s behavior and we're going to start all over again", Natasha explained before she sat down again.
She nodded in your direction and you took that as a sign. You nodded back and looked around of yourself, studying everyone. They were silent, and honestly they seemed to be a little curious to what you had to tell. "I am.. also glad that everyone wanted to come. I can imagine that after my behavior, you all aren't in the mood to do something that has to do with me. And I would like to apologize for my behavior. We started wrong and I realize that the first impression I made was wrong. I hope we can leave everything behind of us and that I can start over", you mentioned, your lips pushed together. You tried to study everyone's behavior. They seemed to be surprised. This was a side of you they had never experienced before.
To your surprise everyone reacted rather.. genuine. They spoke their mind yet seemed to be touched by this initiative. Everyone was honest about what had bothered them about you. But Tony was the first one to mention positive things about you. Which had caused everyone to mention something positive as well. The meeting lasted a little more than an hour. But when you left the room you were relieved. You didn't think you would feel this happy at SHIELD. Everyone had seem to accept your apology and it really felt like you had started something new.
The next morning you got out of bed and felt excited to go to your job. Which was a first. Natasha was already inside of your house, she had let herself in, obviously. And she was waiting for you to wake up so both of you could walk towards of the tower. "Morning sleepyhead, excited?" the redhead asked, her lips curled up a little. You shrugged, "it's a normal workday and hopefully everyone will act like that." But yes you were excited and obviously Natasha had noticed. "Why are you here? I thought we were supposed to meet up around ten?" Natasha shrugged in return, "thought it would be nice to walk to work together." Secretly she just liked to spend time with you. After you had manned up like that yesterday evening, she felt a special kind of admiration for you.
She respected you and honestly she liked the new you. She finally had found a female friend to hang out with. A female friend that was part of the Avengers. A female friend that was just as strong and independent as she felt. Natasha was glad that she had decided to help you out. Because she could have easily worked you out of the team. Yet she saw potential and right now she just felt the need to stick around you.
This new start had proven to be necessary. Once you were at work, things went smoothly. You were excellent at training and everyone greeted you. You felt wanted and with Natasha as your new friend, you were finally happy to be an Avenger. A real Avenger.
