The Dark Hour

"Who are you?" I asked looking at the tall man. He had black hair and shiny blue eyes. He smiled and kneeled down, and softly patted my head.

"I'm Vincent, your guard that will take care and follow you around, I've been with you since you were brought here."

"Brought here?" I asked a little confused. His eyes widened but he sighed and smiled.

"Don't worry about it just remember I'll always be here for you." I smiled up at him and wrapped my tiny arms around his neck. I guess it shocked him since he barely hugged me back.

Vincent and I were in the library, he was teaching me about the kingdoms and some of the weaknesses. I was soon turning 13 so I would have to start participating in the battles. I don't understand why I have to at age 13 but you know not my choice. I hit my head on the table.

"Astrid?" Vincent asked a little lowly.

"I'm sick and tired of reading!" I yelled standing up. Vincent sighed and put his book down. "My first battle is going to be coming up and I can't do anything!" He sighed and nodded.

"If you want to start training then be prepared, cause I'm not going easy on you princess. The reasoning why is cause your opponents won't go easy on you. Just cause you're new at it doesn't mean anything."

"T-Then why do I have to do it?"

"I'm not sure why, but your parents had to go through with it." I sighed and nodded.

"I'm going on a walk." He sighed and stood up.

"Sorry Princess but you can't leave the castle grounds." I growled but slowly nodded. "Let's go to the training yard."

"Who is this?" I asked nervously, I lost my first battle but in two weeks I'm going to fight again. A sharp pain went through my arm and I groaned.

"Princess?" Vincent asked worriedly. I nodded.

"Astrid this is Edward when you are older you two will be married." My eyes widened.

"M-Married?"

"Hello Princess, I'm Lord Edward, Lady Una's oldest son." I looked at him and he has pretty blue eyes. I backed up some and bumped into Vincent.

"Princess please calm down." I shook my head.

"What about my feelings! Do you not care how I feel?!" I snapped.

"Astrid you are the heir to the throne you have to marry! Me and your mother had to do this so do you!" My Father boomed. I shrunk down some. I can't believe this. I looked down at the ground, I didn't want to get into another fight with him.

"King if you would excuse us we have practice to attend to, she does still need to do her duties."

"Maid show Lord Edward to one of the rooms, he will be staying with us for a while." I followed Vincent out and we headed for the training yard.

"So where are you from?" I asked walking beside Edward, it's been a couple of years since he was last here. I believe it was three years ago.

"From a small town just outside of William's kingdom." I nodded. I sighed and clutched on my sword. My kingdom never liked his. I quickly turned and pull out my sword and another one hit mine. I looked up and it was Vincent.

"On your guard I see." He said with a smile.

"You're really going to do this now!?"

"Astrid an enemy can strike anywhere any time always be on your guard." He said walking away.

"I swear I'm going to kill him." I growled.

"H-How about we keep walking?" Edward said shakily. I sighed and nodded. "So what are you?" He asked looking down at me. I looked up at him.

"A demon a full fledge demon. What are you?"

"Half demon half dragon. My father was a dragon and my mother was a demon." I nodded.

There was fire and so much blood, I was freaking out, I couldn't find Edward where is he?

"Edward!" Nothing, just sounds of people slowly dying. I can't let him die, I can't hide my feeling for him anymore. I love Edward and if he dies then I have nothing.

Damn it how long is this going to go on. I looked around and all I saw was fire and dead bodies.

"Edward!" I yelled again. I started to walk around and I finally found him. My eyes grew wide, he was laying on the ground barely breathing. I got on the ground by him and placed his head in my lap. Tears were clouding my vision. "E-Edward please stay with me." He opened his eyes a bit. I smiled. His blue eyes that were once bright were dull. He smiled.

"I'll be fine Astrid, after this will get married and be happy. I love you."

"I love you too." He let out a deep sigh and his eyes slowly started to close. I felt my chest tightening up, this can't be happening. "E-Edward?" Nothing not a smile or anything, his breathing went more and more shallow. I violently shook my head, tears were coming down my face like a river. "No! Edward!" I screamed my heart was hurting I don't understand what-so-ever. How? How could I let this happen?
