The Dark Hour

Seto just got done with his breathing treatment and we were walking down the hall when Jace found us.

"Hey freak!" He shouted. I rolled my eyes and Seto moved behind me.

"What do you want Jace?" I asked annoyed.

"You six feet under and pipsqueak behind you... I have something special planned for him," Jace said lowly. Seto grabbed my hand and I glared at Jace.

"It's not happening."

"We'll see about that." I was getting annoyed. I jumped into the shadows then lights came on from everywhere. I was forced out and I hit a wall.

"Ty!" Seto said running over to me. My head was spinning a bit and I couldn't see straight.

"Can't hide in the shadows if there aren't any," Jace taunted. He grabbed Seto's arm and yanked him away from me.

"Hey! Let go of me!" Seto said trying to pull away from him. Jace smacked him in the chest and Seto was thrown into a coughing fit.

"Hey!" I shouted shakily getting up. "Get away from him."

"What are you going to do to stop me? There's no shadows for you to use," He taunted. I yelled at I ran at him and tackled him to the ground. Ok one, that was a bad idea since I couldn't see straight and he was twice as big as me. Two, I had no idea how to fight without using magic. Jace threw me off of him and into the wall. I quickly tried to get up and Jace kicked me down.

"Stay down freak," Jace snapped. I saw him look at Seto then he smirked. "I know you like him." My face burned and he laughed. "See! That just makes you more of a freak. Two different species can't be together. It makes useless hybrids like you." He yanked Seto up and Seto stumbled a bit but still tried to pull away from him.

"Just let him go," I said pushing myself up. He shoved me back on the ground and sneered.

"Or what? You're weak, and I can do anything I want. Even this." He let go of Seto for a second then he grabbed the back of his head and I completely froze as he forced Seto to kiss him. I snapped out of it after a few seconds then quickly got up and shoved Jace off of him. I kicked Jace in the chest as hard as I could and I popped a lot of my toes but Jace fell to the ground. I grabbed Seto's arm and quickly pulled him down the hall. We didn't make it that far, Jace's friends stopped us.

"Where you going freak?" They taunted. I kept a tight hold on Seto's arm and backed us up against the wall. They were getting closer and I was getting ready to try and fight them when someone stopped them.

"Hey! Assholes!" I saw a guy punch one of Jace's friends in the face and the rest just scattered. The guy looked at me and I just looked at him.

"T-Tyler," Seto said relieved. Tyler quickly kneeled down by Seto and looked him over.

"Are you ok? What the hell happened to your lip?" I looked at Seto and his lip was bleeding. Seto's eyes started watering and Tyler quickly hugged him. "Hey it's ok bud," Tyler said softly. "You're ok." Seto sniffled and Tyler just picked him up.

"Let's get you to your room." Seto nodded and I followed them as Tyler carried Seto back to the room. I unlocked the door and I shut it as soon as Tyler brought Seto in. Tyler set Seto down on the couch.

"Ok, you going to be ok if I go and talk to those guys?" He asked gently. Seto nodded.

"Y-Yeah, I have Ty with me." Tyler looked at me then nodded.

"Ok, take care of yourself. Alright?" Seto nodded and Tyler left. I sat down by Seto and he hugged me tightly. I hugged him back as he started shaking.

"Hey, it's ok," I said softly. "We're ok, well mostly, but we're safe now. No one is going to get us here." Seto shook his head.

"No, I-I thought he forgot but he didn't," He said shakily.

"Forgot what?" I asked confused.

"H-He used to be m-my friend," Seto said softly as he let go of me. "I was new to the base and I didn't know anyone. I was just six and the first person I met was Jace. He seemed really nice and he didn't pick on me. Then things changed when I turned ten. He started acting funny, and I was worried about him. He started doing um, things. It made me uncomfortable but I didn't know better. Michael found out and he started pulling me away from Jace. He taught me self defense and I never thought I would have to use it until... Jace got drunk. He got alcohol somehow and him and all his friends were drinking. I didn't drink any, it smelt horrible and I hated it. I didn't want Jace to get hurt so I just watched him. Then he started acting w-weird. H-He was flirting with me and I told him to back off." Seto closed his eyes then softly continued.

"He got mad. He grabbed me and dragged me to his room. He-He started um, t-touching me. I fought back, I hit him over the head with a lamp and knocked him out. I ran out of there and went to Michael and he punished them. They stayed in a rehab room for three months. Jace hated me, he hated that I shoved him away. B-But what else was I supposed to do?" I hugged Seto tightly and he hugged me back. He buried his face in my shoulder and I gently rubbed his back.

"I don't know what else you could have done. I think you did the right thing by telling Michael but does he know that they're still doing this?"

"No, I don't think so," Seto mumbled.

"We should tell him."

"No! I don't want to go back out there. Please just stay here."

"Seto-"

"No, please I-I don't want him to hurt you!" I sighed then nodded.

"Ok, I won't go anywhere." He sighed in relief.

"Thank you." I leaned back a bit and Seto laid his head on my chest.

"Um Seto?"

"Hmmm?" He hummed.

"I-I like you a lot," I said quickly. Seto looked up at me and smiled.

"I knew you did, I like you too."

"But um I like like you. Like um Skyla likes Ryan."

"I know, and I like you like that too," He giggled.

"It's that obvious isn't it?" He nodded.

"A little." I wrapped my arms around him and sighed.

"At least you like me back," I smiled. He smiled at me then he carefully laid his head on my chest and closed his eyes. After a while I heard him snoring, and after a few minutes I started doing the same.
