Sophie could barely remember why they were out here, besides Lord Cassius groaning and telling them to leave him in peace. But that doesn't count, does it? Sophie's hands were wrapped around her cinnacreme mug and she was leaning into Keefe to get coveted warmth. For a beach, the Shores of Solace were abnormally cold.
The red porch swing swayed to a slow and Sophie felt a tremor go through Keefe. Sophie tilted her head up to look at the fractured boy and saw something tender in his eyes.
"Are you okay," Sophie asked.
"I-I don't think so." And Keefe swooped his head down that fraction of an inch and he kissed her. Sophie melted into the gentle touch and felt his soft lips on hers. It was amazing and simply felt right. Sophie gently deepened the kiss and she later wondered how she didn't notice Keefe's hand coming forth to cradle her head, or hers coming up to thread her fingers through his silky hair. The kiss felt like it could last forever, and it certainly could, due to their Exillium training.
But they both simultaneously pulled away to see the sunset, Sophie's head resting on Keefe's chest. They watched as nature painted an array of beautiful colors and just for that moment everything was peaceful and perfect. This moment was one thing the Neverseen could never take away. They both laughed as they saw how Sophie's Cinnacreme had spilled onto the sand and turned back to the setting sun on the water.
Sophie realized that all those crazy reckless things Keefe had done weren't pure idiocy. He had done it all for her. They didn't have a spark. They had a flame. Ready to become a raging fire. But they were just kids. So they would take it slow. Time is precious and wasting it is unforgivable.
