She'd played right into his hands. This was exactly what he had wanted. To drive her over the edge. The brink was a sparkle in the sky, and Sophie was falling steadily faster.

Not again.

Sophie released her grip on Alden, stumbling backwards, slumping into her chair. The blood beneath her nails shone precariously, the warning sign come far too late.

Was she the wicked witch of the elven world? Giving up to become what they all expected her to be?

Her escort opened the door leading to the stage, fastening an ability restrictor to her head, waist, and wrists. Somehow, the Council discovered Sophie's focal points. The knot for inflicting, temple for telepathy and teleportation, hands for enhancing, every single amplifier.

She couldn't blame her friends for giving up the information.

Sophie looked behind her to see Alden, only allowed a flash view of goblins assisting the man before her escort used telekinesis on her circlet.

Thanks to her, Team Valiant was disbanded. Stripped of the titles provided. Dex, Stina, Biana . . . their nobility meant so much. Sophie had been the one to take it from them.

None of her friends could attend her sentence, not even a few Council members.

She could understand their precautions.

Each step held more weight than the last, guilt sinking down.

Was this what drowning felt like? Knowing there wasn't a chance she could escape? Pressure closing in from all sides? Not getting a second of relief?

Probably.

She didn't dare look at the crowd. Or lift her eyes to the screen broadcasting to every available imparter.

"Sophie Elizabeth Foster is here to be held accountable for first degree murder, vandalism of private property held by the Council, trespassing, arson, disturbing the peace, fraud, forgery, perjury, robbery, and sociopathic behavior."

She wasn't going to stay here.

She couldn't stay here.

They would find her in the Human world. Her friends would be in danger if she dared to hide with them.

And the only place she could go . . . was the Neverseen.

( lol luckily there's a part four- I've been having writer's block lately. I can start things, but not finish them. )
