*for the purpose of the oneshot we are saying Biana came up with the theory of spontaneity and Dex was never on Team Valiant*
After three hours, they finally had a plan. For the first time ever, the Council was helping, and surprisingly supported Biana's theory of spontaneity. At least the majority did. It was never quite clear when they were conversing mentally and Sophie could easily pop in. She didn't want to be on the Council's bad side.
Team Valiant was clearly there. The team was unfortunately wearing their crowns, capes, and pins, making Sophie feel separated from the Black Swan. The arrangement worked nonetheless.
Stina would be searching for Keefe's emotions with Sophie enhancing her, much like how Sophie would be searching for his thoughts. Zarina and Bronte would be there in a way. Sophie would have a mental connection and could access their abilities through that. It would be in and out, grab Keefe and go, no battle. But Sophie couldn't help feeling like it was a trap.
She reached out to Keefe again to see if they were hurting him, Mr. Forkle had said if that began the plan would go into action immediately.
Hey again Foster.
Are they hurting you?!?
No. But it's nice to see you care. They did move me though. I'm blindfolded with shadows now, but I can still hear. Crashing water and a spray keeps hitting me full on. So I'm pretty sure I'm at a waterfall. There are human voices, I have no idea what language, and I'm tied to some sort of bar.
Sophie related the new information to Mr. Forkle and sighed. There were so many waterfalls with tourists. But their best bet was Niagra falls. She concentrated on the mental string between them, following it hand over hand. Keefe was at Niagra falls.
They light leaped there and instantly spotted the telltale patch on the Neverseen's cloaks. Sophie teleported to Niagra falls and grabbed Keefe. Wylie dissipated the shadows with light, and they light leaped away.
"I can't believe that worked," Keefe said in awe.
"Neither can I. And it probably didn't somehow. But all that matters is you're here. And you have to promise to never ever leave me again."
"I promise." Keefe didn't even crack a joke about being by her side in the bathroom, which only showed how serious he was. Something cracked in Sophie's fearless facade and she buried her head in Keefe's shoulder, her eyes watering.
"I kept thinking, what if we couldn't save you, and I'd never said I love you back," Sophie whispered. Keefe carefully lifted her off of him so he was looking Sophie in her glassy eyes.
"But you did. You did save me. You don't need to be strong all the time." A lone tear escaped down Sophie's cheek and she dove back into Keefe, letting out the tiniest whimper.
"I love you too," Sophie said, not caring at all that Wylie was watching the entire thing, and Ro was tossing Prattles into her mouth without looking away. Not caring that Alden was glaring, or that Biana was crying, or Edaline was getting it on video. She didn't care that Grady's hands were curled into fists while simultaneously letting out a cheesy grin. She didn't even notice Biana tossing glitter around them, or Marella taking notes, or even Fitz and his slumped shoulders. She didn't realize Oralie was behind Edaline, holding the imparter steady, or Bronte was crying for what was probably the first time. The collective was politely turned away, along with the rest of the Council. But all Sophie could see was Keefe.
