Sophie stood frozen and collapsed. Keefe was gone. The Neverseen had Keefe. When the Neverseen had someone she loved they could control her. And they had someone she loved. Her thoughts continued in this short, clipped way, her mind not fully functioning, slowly paralyzing along with the rest of her body. Fitz however, was still on the topic of being shot.
"You. Chose. Him. Over. Me." Sophie couldn't hear his words, and Biana, Fitz's own sibling, was looking upon him with hatred.
"Keefe was just kidnapped! We have to save him, not loop on THIS!" Biana was right. But how correct the statement was didn't shock Sophie out of her panic attack any more than Fitz's selfish words.
The rest of the group busied themselves with calling the Black Swan, and Linh took Sophie's imparter to call the council. Marella crouched down next to Sophie and slapped her hard, the sting bringing a splotchy red to Sophie's cheeks.
"Snap out of it," Marella commanded, rather harshly. "We don't have time for this." Sophie shook herself out of it but couldn't help the frenzied speculation circling her frantic mind. Once Linh was done contacting the council members, she tried a different approach while Sophie was scheming with the collective.
"It's going to be alright! Think happy thoughts! Do you want to pet Princess Purryfins?" No, No Sophie did not want to get anywhere near the venomous fish-kitten hybrid. Linh could see the disgust on Sophie's face and sadly walked away with slumped shoulders.
"What if I transmit to him, and search for his thoughts!" Sophie's face brightened and her eyes lit up. The collective exchanged wary looks, not knowing how to deal with this. They didn't want to be responsible for crushing Sophie's newfound hope. After all, it could work. But by now the Neverseen was smart enough to put restrictions in place.
Sophie's powers could rival said restrictions. So she transmits.
Keefe?
Hey Foster.
Whe-
I'm in a cold clearing with a ton of weird fish in a huge pond. I can't see any of the other Neverseen members except for Dex, who's currently harassing me with his turning story. Sophie cringed, forever blaming herself.
She gave the information to Mr. Forkle, who abruptly wrote it down and put it through an advanced Elvin search engine their technopath had developed.
I miss you.
Silence.
I miss you more.
Something in Sophie told her it was true. Which meant a lot considering.
We'll find you.
Just in case you don't...
What?
I-I
Keefe? You don't need to say it.
Yes I do. I-I love you. Don't worry about me.
You can't tell me you love me in the same thought stream as don't worry! I was worrying already.
Sophie shut off the transmission and drew in gasping breaths. She was dreadfully aware she hadn't returned the words. She didn't need to say them now. That would happen once they got Keefe back. And she knew they would.
(A/N: Should I make a part 3? idk. First comment as always, my lovely Sokeefe shippers. DON'T FORGET TO VOTE, COMMENT AND REEEQUEST!)
