Dex walks up to the crew after a planning session with the Black Swan and Sophie grits her teeth.
"Fitz, Keefe, please step to that line, "Dex said pleasantly.
"If you try to hurt he-" Keefe's hands clenched into fists.
"I won't." Dex gave Keefe a fake smile and gestured at the line marked in chalk. The pair walked to the line and Dex pushed them about a meter apart. He handed Sophie what looked like a supercharged melder.
"Shoot either Keefe or Fitz, or everyone dies." Neverseen members stepped out from behind trees, appeared in plain sight, some levitating until there was what seemed like a dome of evil. Sophie stared at the melder and leveled the gun at the space between.
"Okay." Silent tears rolled down Sophie's face as she popped the safety wire. She backed up.
"Sophie, don't do this." Fitz was glaring at Dex.
"Sophie?" The girl in question almost dropped the weapon when Keefe whispered the words.
"You said my name." Sophie aimed the melder at Fitz and fired. "It's not charged!" Dex grimly smiled.
"Well, now you know who she likes better." The Neverseen swooped down and captured Keefe in less than a second and Keefe was shadow-leaped away.
"Why would you kill me and not Keefe?" Sophie openly stared at Fitz, horrified by how selfish that was.
"His hair is pretty awesome," Sophie spat sarcastically.
