Sophie pulled away, rivulets of sorrow flowing down her cheeks and collapsed, as nothing changed.

"Sophie?" The sobbing mess on the floor couldn't tell who it was at all, not able to discern anyone's voice. She heard a rustling of blankets and someone rasped.

"Foster?"

Sophie's neck snapped back, her eyes roving the room. She found she could speak again after going through that pain.

"If this is someone's cruel and twisted idea of a joke I will never forgive them," Sophie said quietly, half to herself. Her hands curled into fists, and she vowed to keep that promise.

"I'm never joking." A pitiful scratchy voice. One that vaguely reminded Sophie of. . . Keefe? But Amy's idea was so dumb! Maybe how smart the solution was didn't matter. All that mattered was that it worked. Sophie owed Amy a life debt. But Sophie wasn't about to tell her little sister about it.

"Keefe!" Sophie threw herself toward the cot, her tear ducts functioning again. Tears gushed from her glassy red eyes, carefully wrapping her arms around Keefe. 

"I'm not that fragile," Keefe let out a bubbling laugh when Sophie squeezed much harder. Sophie could feel another laugh rumbling in his chest after Sophie buried her head in his shoulder, now fully on the cot. An impatient tapping of a shoe resounded behind them, but Sophie didn't care. Keefe was awake, his eyes wide open. They grew wider at Sophies' embrace, then they closed, Keeke relaxing in the moment.

A cough echoed against the Healing Center walls. Sophie ignored it, and instead-slightly aggressively-pressed her lips to Keefe's. Her tears had collected a little on the corners of her mouth and the kiss tasted like salt. Keefe pushed up into the touch and pulled Sophie's waist closer to his. The kiss was passionate and fiery. Sophie hadn't known how much she loved Keefe until he was gone. And she had every intention to make up for it.

"AHEM." Again, Sophie ignored whoever it was. When they had finished, or rather paused, she turned around and her blushing face grew crimson.
