America - Alfred

Alfred had gotten the phone call late at night. His voice was threatening to give way and his eyes stung. This couldn't be right. His lovely Y/N. His Y/N was in hospital. It couldn't be. His loving girlfriend was on her way home from her Mother's.

"Sir?" questioned the receptionist on the other end. Alfred swallowed the lump in his throat and responded that he'd be over there as soon as he could. You see Y/N was his world. His precious girlfriend was his everything. Driving to the hospital was insanely difficult. He tried not to let his thoughts wander to what could happen.

It was not even half an hour later when he was being led by a nurse down the halls of the hospital. It seemed surreal. Like he wasn't in control of his body as he followed this nurse to where his girlfriend lay.

Stepping inside the room made his heart clench. How could someone do this to his baby? There she lay beaten and bruised on the bed. It didn't sink in when the nurse told him of the unfortunate events that had happened.

She left the couple alone as Alfred sunk into the chair by the side of the bed. It was eerie. The rhythmic beating of the machines, the pattering of the rain on the window and the pale skin of his love. This must be a bad dream. Such a bad dream. Choking on a sob, Alfred held his love's hand tightly.

"Baby... Baby... please." Alfred didn't know what he was pleading for but he let the tears come. "I promise. I'll stay with you through all of this. I promise you Y/N." he cooed pressing a kiss to the knuckles.

He waited weeks for her to wake up. And when she did his heart leaped to his throat and he wanted to shout for joy. Instead he kissed her tenderly and held her close. A smile broke out on his face when he heard his love complain of the beard that didn't suit him. Everything was going to be okay. Everything was going to be fine.

She still wasn't allowed out of the hospital. Not until she could walk again so he sat there day and night helping her eat her food despite her telling him that she could feed herself. He carried her to and from the bathroom when she needed it and sang her songs to calm her nerves. His little ray of sunshine was still shining strong. Oh so strong that he thought he'd be blinded.

Months passed and she made improvements within the physiotherapy sessions. That's all because of Alfred being there and supporting her. Though he had to skip out on one of the last sessions she'd ever have at the hospital.

Walking through the halls with lunch in hand, he strode towards the large area where he knew she'd be in. "Y/N?" he called out. His love turned the wheelchair round and readied herself to get out of it. Before Alfred could help, he was stopped by her shaking her head.

Pushing herself out of the wheelchair, Y/N stood up by herself. Alfred felt tears come to his eyes for yet another time but worry still consumed his person. He couldn't believe his eyes when he saw his girlfriend walk towards him with only a hint of a limp. His heart thundered in his chest and admiration took over. He couldn't fathom the words to explain how happy he was right now. Instead he picked her up and spun her around.

Standing there with her in his arms, he buried his face into her neck. "Surprise babe." whispered Y/N with a small grin. Alfie laughed, his entire being felt light again. Lifting her hands up to kiss the knuckles, his eyes sparkled with excitement. "This is such a wonderful surprise. I'm so proud of you." he murmured before pressing a kiss to the tip of Y/N's nose.

They were so happy to be within their own home again. Both cuddled up in the mound of pillows and blankets. He had his baby by his side again.

"Alfie?" questioned Y/N looking into those blue eyes. Alfred looked back. Those happy tears rolling down his cheeks with a wide grin to match. "Yeah babe?" he asked looking down at his girl. The ring glinted on her finger and he smiled to himself knowing that he made the right decision in promising his forever to her.

Thought the next thing that she said brought to him a fluttering heart and a surge of endearment. So much so that he had to kiss her to show how much his love had captured his heart.

"Thank you so much for being there for me. Through everything. I couldn't of done it without you, my hero."
