My stomach rolled as I applied the mascara to my eyelashes. Johnny wants me to meet his friends today and I am incredibly nervous about it. I'm aware of  their soft spot for Johnny and know that they are going to be incredibly cautious of me.

The soft spot is warranted, as is the caution. Johnny has been through so much in his sixteen years of life and he doesn't deserve to go through any more pain than he already has.

"Are you almost ready?" He asks softly, walking up behind me.

"Yes, I'm right now done," I answered. I looked over my face one more time before turning to face Johnny.

"You look beautiful," he said. He placed a soft kiss to my cheek, his own covering in blush.

"Thank you."

Johnny and I have been dating for nearly five months now, it's honestly surprising I haven't had a formal introductory to the gang yet.

"Everything is gonna go fine I promise. Besides, you've already met Pony and he loves you!"

"Yes, but Pony is a sweetheart, like you. The rest of your gang is more rough."

He rolled his eyes as I called him sweetheart. He hates it when I call him that, says it's bad for his greaser reputation. I only ever smile and give him soft apology. That won't stop me from using the pet name every now and then though.

I grabbed my bag before locking hands with Johnny and allowing him to lead me out of my house.

We're meeting them at the Curtis' house. It's only a ten minute walk from my place with them only living a couple blocks away.

As we walked I could tell that Johnny was nervous too. He chewed his lip and stared at the ground throughout the journey. As we reached the Curtis' I gave his hand a tight squeeze before he lead me up the sidewalk and into the house.

The house was loud and full. From what I could tell the entire gang was already here. They were scattered around the house and I could here conversations coming from every direction. One particular conversation caught my ear.

"When do you think they'll be here? I'm ready to meet her. I wonder what kind of girl Johnny likes. You think she's quiet like him? Or maybe she's a little louder. Ya know that opposites attract theory? I could see that working for him." The voice rambled on and on.

"Ya wanna shut up Two? They're here and you're gonna scare her off!" One of the boys in the living room called out. Two heads popped out of the kitchen sending smiles in our direction.

Johnny sent a greeting to all of the boys and introduced my name to the group. We received a jumbled mess of responses back and I could only pit names with a couple of the boys, and that's including Ponyboy.

"I'm Two-Bit Mathews!" One of the boys from the kitchen smiled while walking up. He gripped my hand with his tightly and then pulled me further into the house.

"Oh! Well it's nice to meet you!" He lead me to each of the members and introduced them one by one with Johnny trailing behind us. I kept glancing back at him to see a soft smile on his face.

It wasn't long before I was thrusted into the dynamic of the boys. We all sat in the living room as everyone asked questions about me and about our relationship. At times it felt a little more like an interrogation, especially when Dallas was asking the questions.

Dallas was intimidating. I know how much he means to Johnny. If Dallas were to dislike me, I worry it might prompt Johnny to break up with me. I know we've only been dating a short time but I don't think I'd be able to handle it.

Johnny put an arm behind me on the couch and I quickly burrowed myself into his side. The scent of his cologne comforted me as my anxiety continued to brew inside of me.

This action seemed to go unseen by everyone. Everyone except Dallas of course. He stared at me with blank eyes as he brought his beer up to his lips. I sent him a tight lipped smile before turning and placing my head in Johnnys shoulder. The evening was catching up to me and I was getting tired.

"You gettin' tired, Doll?" Johnny asked as he caught the yawn I was trying to hide. "It might be time for me to walk you home."

I tried to protest, arguing I could stay longer. He only shook his head as he pulled me up from the couch. We said our goodbyes to everyone and he clutched my hand once more.

We stepped into the cool air of the night and as I turned to speak to.him I was interrupted by the slamming of the screen door behind us.

"Cool if I walk with ya, Johnnycakes?" Dallas asked, walking down the steps to join us. Johnny nodded in response, allowing the other greaser to join us.

"Johnnycakes?" I asked with a teasing smile.

"Now don't you start." Johnny huffed rolling his eyes.

"I think it's cute." I giggled as the three of us started down the street.

The boys did most of the talking as we walked, Dallas inviting Johnny to stay at his place tonight. It made my heart swell, knowing Johnny would have a safe place to stay tonight.

They dropped me off at my house, Johnny kissing my cheek softly before saying goodnight. I returned the gesture and slowly walked into the house, giving Dallas a quick goodbye as well.

Once I was in the house I quickly walked over to the window, straining to hear what the two boys continued to speak about. They both stared at my front door for a moment before Dallas finally spoke.

"You got a good broad Johnny. Good job." He puffed on the cigarette he'd been smoking, finally stepping to walk away.

I let out a deep sigh of relief before a giddy feeling filled my body. The liked me. The gang all liked me.
