A/n: Hey, please check out my new story 'Expect the Unexpected' thanks(:
**Sodas POV**
Steve, Two-Bit, and I are at the nightly double trying to pick some chicks up. I looked around at all the girls, who were already staring at me, to see if there were any that peeked my interest. I stopped in the middle when I saw a girl who stood in the line at the concession stand. She wore a leather jacket, dark skinny jeans, and a pair of black combat boots. She had winged eyes and a lit cigarette hung from her bright red lips. Something about her intrigued me. Like there's so much more than meets the eye.
"Hey, who's that?" I asked Steve with a nudge.
"Oh, that's (Y/n). She's kinda weird. I wouldn't talk to her." He answered. "She's real quiet."
"What do you mean?" I asked curiously.
"I heard she's dangerous." Two-Bit added in. "Someone said she got kicked out of her last school for nearly killing a girl." I stared at her for a moment debating whether or not I wanted to go over and talk to her.
"I'm gonna go talk to her." I finally decided as I stood from my seat.
"Good luck." Two said. "Ain't nobody got anywhere with her."
When I got to the line she turned to look at me, so I shot her a smile. Usually that itself would have a girl blushin' and gigglin' but she looked unimpressed. I could see Steve and Two-Bit watching from the chairs.
"Hey, I'm Sodapop." I introduced with a smile. She turned around completely and gave me a glance over, seemingly deciding if she was going to respond or ignore me.
"(Y/n)." She answered as she breathed the cigarette smoke in my face.
"So what're you doin' all by your lonesome?" I asked with a playful tone, glad that I got a conversation started.
"Didn't have anyone I wanted to come with." She responded simply.
"What? You don't have any friends you would want to hang with?" I asked in disbelief.
"Well, I have acquaintances. I wouldn't really call them my friends though." She responded while taking another drag of the cancer stick. "What about you? Are you here with any friends?"
"Sure am." I smiled. "They're part of my gang." I pointed to them. They seemed to have been watching us because they panicked and dropped their popcorn when she looked at them.
"They seem like fun." She said with a small smile as we moved up the line.
"They are." I smiled fondly of my friends. "Do you wanna come sit with us when you get your food?"
"I wouldn't wanna intrude on you and your friends." She replied.
"I consider you a friend." I grinned. "And I'm sure they wouldn't mind."
"Alright." She agreed after a moment of debating with herself. "Only if they're alright with it."
Once we got our popcorn and drinks, that I payed for even though she insisted, I led her over to the seated section where we always sit. Steve and Two-Bit were loudly arguing about something, I think it was if muffins should be considered cupcakes?
"They're part of the cupcake family! They're the ugly ones!" Two-Bit argued.
"No they're not! They're in a category all they're own!" Steve retaliated. Two was about to continue until he saw us walking over.
"Hey, guys. Is it okay for (Y/n) to sit with us?" Soda asked as he handed them a new bucket of popcorn and their drinks.
"That's fine, but first shes gotta answer one question. Is a muffin technically a cupcake?" Asked Steve.
"No." She answered confused. "Muffin is a breakfast food while cupcake is a dessert."
"Debate settled!" Steve yelled. "Case may not be re-opened!" Two-Bit just grumbled under his breath about how that has nothing to do with it.
"I'm so sorry about them." I told (Y/n) as we sat down, hoping they hadn't scared her off.
"It's all right." She giggled. "They're funny." When I heard her laugh I couldn't help but smile the biggest smile. That was the most adorable thing I've ever heard.
Once the movie finally started we all settled down some so we could at least try and watch the movie. I stretched my arms out and then placed one around (Y/n). I could see her give me a playful glare from the corner of my eye and I felt a small grin tug at my mouth. We got bored half way through the movie and decided we might as well just go. People kept yelling at us for talking any way. Two-Bit and Steve are on their way to a party so that leaves (Y/n) and I.
"(Y/n), I'd really like to take you on a date." I said as we stood in front of the drive-in. The smile on her face immediately dropped to a frown. "What's wrong?"
"I don't want to hurt you." She whispered as she stared at me with big eyes. My eyebrows furrowed in confusion as my hand went up to cup her cheek. "I break everything I touch."
"What are you talking about, darling?" I asked as I saw tears welling up in her eyes.
"It's like I'm cursed." She cried. "Every time I get close to someone I hurt them. I don't mean to."
"Shh." I hushed her as I wiped her tears away. "I'm sure you got hurt as well, didn't you?"
"Yes, but it was all my fault." She cried harder as I pulled her into my chest. I rubbed her back and waited until she had calmed down slightly.
"Look at me (Y/n)." She slowly looked up into my eyes. "Whatever happened was not your fault. I don't know who told it was and I don't know why but it's not. You can't do this to yourself! You can't blame yourself for something you may have had no control over. Whatever happened had other contributing factors. You were not the one and only cause, and whoever told you you were can go to hell!"
"Thank you so much, Soda" (Y/n) cried as she fell to her knees. I said nothing but sat beside her and pulled her into a hug.
"That's what friends are for."
