I huffed out a sigh as my friends and I flopped into the chairs at the back of the nightly double. Another Friday night wasted at the drive-in.
Every week we say we're gonna do something different. Say that we're gonna go out and make memories that we'll carry for the rest of our lives. Yet, we always end up in these old chairs. And we always end up leaving early.
"Don't look now, but you have a secret admirer." My best friend winked, sitting down and handing me a drink.
I looked in the direction of her nod to see a group of greasers sitting a few rows away. They all seemed to be chatting amongst themselves, except for one. One with dark hair and chocolate eyes who was staring directly at her. A cocky smirk sat on his face as they made eye contact, sending a wink my way. I rolled my eyes, turning back to face the screen."
"Dallas Winston," I muttered, "is nothing but trouble."
"Huh, that is old Dally isn't it?" She asked, glancing back at him one more time.
As the movie played my friends and I gossiped about things that had been happening in the past week and laughing about dumb things we did.
It wasnt until I heard voices behind me that I turned to see Dallas and his gang had moved into the row directly behind me and my friends. Great.
"He, doll," Dallas greeted, leaning forward onto his knees.
Rather than responding I turned back around with a roll of my eyes.
"I'm not doin' it." I muttered, sending my friends into a giggling fit.
I've had my fill of bad boys. I don't need another one in my life for what, maybe a month? Only to have him break my heart like it's nothing.
"Hey, I was talkin' to you!" He protested, tapping on my shoulder.
"I know who you were talking to, but last time I checked my name isn't doll."
"Okay, then what is your name? Doll?" He drawled, smirking.
"None of your -" before I could finish my sentence I was interrupted by one of my friends sharing my name with the boys.
I kicked her chair and gave her a confused look. She only giggled in response before shrugging.
Dallas testing my name, only causing his smirk to grow even more.
"What do you say we get outta here?"
"I'm not sure if you've noticed but I'm here with some people."
"I bet by the end of tonight, I'll get you to agree to go out with me." He proposed.
"And if you don't?"
"I'll never bother you again." His friends rose their eyebrows at this and my lips pursed in contemplation.
"Deal."
With that one word Dallas was out of his seat and shoving my best friend out of the way, taking the seat next to me. He slung his arm over my shoulder.
I couldn't help but giggle as he would whisper in my ear throughout the movie. Sometimes they were sweet complement, others were dirty remarks that earned him a smack.
"Hey, we're leaving," my best friend gripped my hand, pulling me out of the seat.
"But," I hesitated, turning to glance at Dallas for a moment.
"You said it earlier. He's nothing but trouble." She tried to tug me away, but I stood my ground.
"One sec!" I reached into my purse to grab a pen and I grabbed Dallys hand, quickly scribbling my number down.
"You better call me!" I shoved his hand into his chest before turning to catch up with my group.
I giggled as I heard the boys hollering and congratulating Dally on his success. My friend looked disappointed.
"Look, nothing is gonna come of it. I doubt he'll even call me."
"I say this with love," she started. "For your sake I hope he doesn't."
That night as I answered my phone at 2 am, I was glad her wish wasn't granted.
