"Well what about this one?" I asked my boyfriend, Steve, as I pulled a dress out of my giant closet. Yes I'm a soc, yes he's a greaser, no we don't care and surprisingly neither do my parents. I turned to look at him sitting on my bed with my cat sitting on his lap. They looked the dress up and down and Steve shook his head no. "Well I have to wear something!" I groaned falling onto the bed. My parents are taking me to this expensive restaurant out of town and told me I could invite Steve. Steve wire a nice button up flannel and a good pair of jeans with no holes or stains, which I was surprised he had.
"Here. Let me look." He place my cat on the floor and walked into my closet. "Good lord! You could fit a car in here!"
"Steve!" I groaned.
"Oh yeah, sorry. Back to business." I laughed as he mumbled the last part. For about ten minutes I heard him sliding hangers around, moving boxes, and even tripping a couple times. "What about this one?" I walked into my closet to see him sitting in the back corner looking in a box. I gasped when I saw the dress.
"I completely forgot I had this!" I exclaimed pulling it out of the box. "Thank you Steve!" I tackled him into a hug as he stood up.
"No problem babe." He laughed.
"And I have plenty of time to do my hair and make up!" I cheered. "You're my hero!" I laughed. Steve rolled his eyes as I ran up to the mirror grabbing my makeup.
"Don't wear too much though. You know how I feel about that stuff." He mumbled sitting back down on my bed. I nodded in acknowledgement and started on it. Since I'm not going to be wearing much it won't take to long. As I finished that I turned to Steve and smiled.
"Stevieee." I called.
"Hmm?" He asked glancing up from his magazine.
"Will you do my hair?" Steve would never admit it but he is damn good at doing hair! Apparently his ex did hair and when he would go to her work he'd watch her do it and had just memorized the styles. I found out by accident when I asked him to braid my hair and he did a French Braid. Apparently he thought that was a regular braid.
"No." He shook his head.
"Please? You're so good at it." He sighed before walking over to me.
"What do you want be to do?" He asked brushing out my hair.
"Do whatever you thing would look good with my dress." I replied. "You could quit being a mechanic and do hair fur a living." I laughed.
"Um no!" He said immediately. "This is not fun."
"Perfect timing." I looked at my watch as he finished. "I'll get dressed and then we can leave." I quickly ran into my closet throwing my dress on. As I walked out I noticed Steves jaw drop.
"You look beautiful." Steve whispered taking my hand. Right as went in for a kiss my parents yelled for us.
"Are you guys ready?" My father called. I blushed looking at Steve and pulled him downstairs with me.
"Yes, dad." I replied and kissed his cheek.
"Look how cute you kids are." My mother cooed. "Here let me take a picture." She exclaimed grabbing her camera. I rolled me eyes as Steve laughed. My mother took a few pictures before finally we all liked in the car to go. When we finally got to the restaurant my mother had a separate table reserved for Steve and I so we could have some privacy. Thank god.
"This place is really nice." Steve said looking around.
"Yep." I replied. "Just wait till you get the food. Places like this always have the best food."
"You come to places like this often?" Steve asked going over the menu.
"Not really." I complained. "My dad says it's a luxury we don't need." We ended up having a really good dinner. I had some kind of pasta I can't pronounce and Steve had quote, 'A steak cooked by God himself!' So I guess you could say Steve liked it. We were waiting for our desert when Steve got a nervous look and grabbed my hand.
"I sorta got you something." He said with a shy smile.
"Aww really? You didn't have to." I smiled.
"But I wanted to. I worked extra shifts and everything to get it for you." He said with a proud smile.
"You're such a sweetheart! What is it?" He reached into his pocket pulling out a silver ring.
"A promise ring." It had a heart and in the center of it was my birthstone.
"Oh my goodness! I love you so much Steve! This had to cost a fortune!" I smiled as he slid it onto my finger.
"It was worth it." He grinned kissing my cheek. How did I get such a perfect boyfriend?
