"Hey Dare-Bear, ready for our our date tonight?" I asked with a smile as I flopped into the recliner with him as he watched the news.
"Of course, darling." He kissed my cheek as his arm snaked around my waist.
"You wanna tell me what we're gonna do?" I asked with a grin.
"Nope." He responded with a smug smile. I hugged as I leaned against him and he laughed. Darry would plan a date each month that would take place on the date we met. He won't tell me anything about it and it's a complete surprise. Now you would think that at least once he would give it away on accident but nope. The man is good, I'll give him that much.
"Not even a hint?" I asked hopefully.
"You should know by now that I don't give hints." He laughed.
"Ugh." I groaned over dramatically. I sat watching some sitcom with him when Soda and Steve came in. Soda was smiling widely and was wearing a, what looked to be new, leather jacket. "Damn, Soda. Lookin' good." I said, nudging him with my foot, as he walked by.
"Thanks, (Y/n)." He blushed.
"How much did that cost?" Darry rose an eyebrow.
"It don't matter." Soda sighed. "I used my money from working overtime."
"Okay, I'm not mad. I just don't want you wasting your money." Darry assured.
"I know." Soda said, shooting us one of his famous smiles. "I really hate being poor." He added.
"Me too." Steve jumped in. "It'd be nice to have some money."
"Some people are so poor, all they have is money." I said, not moving my eyes from the TV.
"That was deep, (Y/n)." Steve said after a minute of silence.
"Well it's true." I said. "If someone offered you millions of dollars but you would have to completely drop your friends and family would you take it?" I rose an eyebrow. "If you did you would only be happy for so long." All of the boys agreed when our date got brought up again.
"Excited for your date?" Soda asked with a knowing smile.
"I wanna know what we're doing!" I whined.
"Well you'll know soon." Soda laughed.
"You should probably go get ready." Darry suggested and I nodded in response. "I'll pick you up in a couple of hours."
Once I got home I jumped into the shower since it was a hot day and I had gotten sweaty. I then went to my closet to decide what to wear. I remember that Darry said something casual and simple. I grabbed my Coca Cola shirt
and a pair of sorts to put on and then slid on my red high tops. I looked at the clock and saw I was done with ten minutes to spare. I looked in the mirror, pleased with my appearance, when I heard the honk of Darrys truck. I quickly ran out of my house and jumped into the truck with him.
"I can see that you're excited." He laughed and leaned in giving me a short sweet kiss. He then pulled out of my drive way and was going down the road to leave town. I looked at him with raised eyebrows. "Just trust me." He grinned. He drove with one hand on the steering wheel and the other holding my hand. It took fifteen minutes to get to the secret destination when he stopped.
"We're in the middle of a field." I laughed as I looked around. Darry said nothing but got out of the truck causing me to follow in curiosity. Once we reached the back of the truck he opened the tailgate and there were blankets and pillows covering the surface.
"You're always saying you want a place to stargaze where no one will bother us." He smiled. I squealed in response and wrapped my arms around his neck and pulled him in for a long, passionate kiss.
"You're the best." I whispered as our foreheads were resting against each other.
"I know." He said with a smirk and a twinkle in his eyes.
We crawled into the back of the truck and cuddled together as we started to look at the stars. We talked in hushed whispers as if the stars would go away if we spoke to loud.
"(Y/n)." Darry said nervously. "Can I ask you something?"
"Of course." I said sitting up so we could look at each other as we spoke.
"We've been dating for nearly two years now." He started as he pulled a small black box out of his pocket. "And I was wondering if you would do me the honor of becoming the one and only Mrs. Darrel Curtis?" He opened the box to show a giant ring. My hand flew to my mouth and I felt tears running down my face.
"Yes!" I yelled in joy as I tackled him in a hug. "How could I say no to the love of my life?" I whispered in his ear.
"God I love you." He whispered back as he pulled away so he could slip the ring onto my finger.
"How did you afford this?" I asked in awe at its size.
"A lot of work and an amazing gang." He laughed as he kissed me. I smiled into the kiss as I knew I was joining the right family.
I'm gonna be married to Darrel Curtis. How could anyone do better than that?
