"Please! I already promised that you would go!" My best friend begged as I tried to ignore her.

"You should've asked before making that promise. Besides, you know how i feel about blind dates. I'm not going." I huffed, flipping through a magazine.

"It would be a double so it's not like you'd be alone!" She tried again, "If it doesn't go well ill.necer ask again. I promise!"

I dropped the magazine into my lap and turned to look into her big puppy dog eyes. Shit.

"Fine, but if he's not to my liking, I won't hesitate to up and leave!" I gave in. "What's his name?"

"Oh, you won't regret this!" She cheered, pulling me over to leave a kiss on my cheek. "His name is Johnny Cade. You'll be doubling with me and Dallas!"

"Yeah, yeah, yeah," I muttered, wiping her lip stick off my cheek. She gushed about how cute the boys were and filled me in on how her last date with Dallas had gone. I would just keep my fingers crossed that his friend nicer than him.

We walked into The Dingo, each of sliding into a booth in the corner of the room. We sat across from each other as we went ahead and ordered our drinks.

"They're late." I muttered, sipping my Pepsi.

"They'll be here!" She defended. "Dallas isn't the most punctual."

I rolled my eyes at her statement. Turning to stare out the window.

It wasn't until a few minutes later that I was startled by a figure sliding into the seat beside me.

"I'm sorry, I didn't mean to scare you." The boy apologized, his gaze settled on the table. His hair had a healthy amount of grease and his features were soft, save for the scar.

"Its alright," I smiled at him, introducing myself as well.

"Johnny," he stuttered his name out with a polite nod. I looked across the table to see Dallas looking at me with a hard stare, his a slung around my friends shoulders. She was excitedly sharing a story, but he didn't seem to be listening.

I shifted my attention back to the boy who was deemed my date for the evening. He was very shy, it seems as if he might've been drug along the same as I was. It didn't take long to break through his shell though. We mostly spoke of school and friends, but he was nice. I liked talking to him.

I was in the middle of telling him a story about my kid brother when u felt a swift kick to my shin.

"Dally and I are getting out of here!" My friend whisperer before she stood. Dallas threw some money on the table.

"You good Johnny-Cakes?" The question was directed to Johnny, but Dallas was staring at me. His features screamed distrust.

"Yeah, I'm good. Get outta here Dally." Johnny assured.

We also stood as the other two left.

"Can I walk you home?" Johnny asked, blush covering his cheeks.

"I would love that." I smiled, locking my arm with his.

The walk home was short, filled with giggles and small jokes. I was disappointed it hadn't lasted longer.

"Hey, umm, do you think you might wanna go out again sometime?" He asked, his voice shaking.

"I would like that a lot." I smiled, leaning in to peck his cheek. I gave him my phone number before slowly walking inside my house. I watched him walk away from the window, and started counting down the minutes until I saw him again.
