Darting her eyes about her phone, Sandra smiled, she was about to find a bouncy toy for Emily given she was growing up.
Finding a cheap one given Diego always said they were living pay check to pay check, which Sandra never understood, Diego made any where between 1,200 to almost 1,500 every week, however she didn't really question it, her relationship to Diego was not about the money.
Finding what she needed, Sandra and Diego were able to go and pick it up has his mother was watching Emily given they were to go and get this toy. Even though Emily was only a few months old, Sandra wanted to surprise her.
Going back, Diego tried to get Sandra to smoke but she really didn't want to, after she had emily, Sandra really didn't feel the need to drink and smoke, she gave all her time and energy to Emily.
To his mother's, Sandra watched has he masked his smell to then eye over to Sandra.
"What?"
"I don't know why you do that. Why can't you just let your mother know you smoke?"
Diego narrowed his eyes.
"Never ever tell my mother I smoke illegal drugs. Ever!"
Sandra looked over Diego to give a stiff nod to then get out of the car to feel a bit of fear to then let it roll off.
She then went to the back of the car to then grab the toy to then take the parts to go inside the house with no help from Diego.
Inside Sandra placed it together again without Diego's help to then look up to see he went to a chair to be to his phone.
Sandra rolled her eyes to then get up to go find Emily to then place her in, Emily looked about the sea creatures that were all around the way to be in awe, she then used her little feet to bounce up and down.
Sandra then looked to the side has Diego started to laugh to keep talking in Spanish to his mother who was to the kitchen to then keep saying one Spanish word, Sandra then widened her eyes has she saw his mother come about to then smack him lightly to the face to then utter a word she knew in Spanish, which ment stop.
Diego looked to her to laugh.
Sandra eyed them both to be very confused to then look to Emily to be happy she was enthralled in her toy to not notice.
Eventually has the day started to wind down, they were in the car for Sandra to make a face to then look to Diego.
"So.... Why did your mother hit you?"
Diego shrugged.
"I don't know."
"Diego.....I don't fully understand Spanish, why did she hit you?"
"Sandra.... Just let it go."
"Diego, this is serious, Emily could have seen it. So why did it happen?"
"She didn't set it and Emily is just a baby. Your making too much of this."
"Diego..... This isn't okay."
Has they got home, Diego shut off the car to then eye over Emily who was asleep to her car seat to then look to Sandra.
"Listen.... This is just how my family is. I.... Never told you this, but I was brought up in a broken home. When I came up here from Mexico, when I went to live with my mom and my step dad with my siblings, I watched has my step dad used to beat my mom. He would come home after work, they both would after I would spend the day watching and caring for my sister and brother, when we were to relax, he would have a beer then hit my mom every so often."
Sandras eyes widened to look over Diego to part her lips.
"Oh my God. Why didn't you call the police?"
"He's my step dad. Without him my family would have been to the streets. Remember Sandra, I grew up in chocolate City, I did not grow up like you did. I was also 15 years old. He was so much more bigger then me. I couldn't do anything then. I'm just happy things have settled down and he doesn't do that anymore."
Sandra darted her eyes over Diego to then unbuckle her seat belt to then go to him to wrap her arms about.
"I am so sorry Diego. No kid should have to go through that."
Diego wrapped his arms about Sandra to hold.
"That's just my family Sandra."
"Still.... You shouldn't have gone through that."
Diego nodded to then move back to eye over Sandra.
"It's in the past. So when things like that happen with my mom, just let it go."
Sandra made a face to then nod.
Not if she does that in front of Emily when she gets older, this is not okay.
Sandra then looked up to see Diego to get out to then get out her self to go to Emily to take her car seat to follow Diego to feel so very sorry for him.
She couldn't believe he grew up like that. She couldn't believe his step dad would do things like that, he didn't seem like the type, he was always coming home too tired to really do anything and would be so nice to Emily and his other kids. Sandra really couldn't see him has an abuser.
Going inside, Diego went straight upstairs with Sandra in tow for Sandra to place Emily into her crib to then go to the bedroom to have sex with Diego without fighting against it to be laying to her side after to be eyeing over him.
Still can't believe you grew up in an apartment to see that type of abuse. I feel just so very sorry for you and your brother and sister and your mother. No one should ever have to deal with that.
Sandra darted her eyes over Diego to then snuggle up closer to fall asleep to not know he was lying and it wouldn't be until years later when she actually talked to his mom, his many lies he told when they were just starting out, however his was she suppose to know at this point, that she was dating a monster?
